Arsenal FC goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has welcomed competition from their new summer signing David Ospina for the number one spot.
David Opina is one of the four new signings made by Arsenal this summer. Wojciech Szczesny has welcomed his arrival and is looking forward to competing him for a place in the side.
Ospina couldnai??i??t feature in the Emirates Cup as he was struggling with slight thigh injury, but the Colombian international is expected to feature a lot in the upcoming season. Ospina has produced some consistent performances for Nice in the last two seasons. It is incredible to think that he managed to keep 12 cleans sheets in 28 league appearances for a side which narrowly escaped relegation in 2013-14.
He gained the spots lights recently for his performances in the World Cup for his national side asAi??Los CafeterosAi??reached the quarter-finals of the tournament. Ospina pulled out some stunning saves during his stint in Brazil and now the Arsenal fans will hope to experience some more of those at the Emirates.
Ospina will push Szczesny for the number one spot in the side and the Polish international, who has been at the club since 2009, has welcomed the competition.

“I was expecting someone to come because Lukasz has left for Swansea and I wish him all the best. I knew someone would come in. Despite losing the Emirates Cup, Szczesny is confident about his teamai??i??s chances the Premier League this season and insists that the players are looking sharper every passing day.
“It would have been nice to win a cup that we play at home, but that’s not what we talk about in pre-season. We want to prepare and make sure we are at our very best at the weekend [in the Community Shield] and then against Crystal Palace in [the Premier League].
“Last year we had a long pre-season and we played a lot of games in Asia. This year is completely different but I think everyone is looking sharper every single day.
“We were close to being right near the top last year in the Premier League and we managed to win the FA Cup. This year we added some players and we’re looking stronger. The confidence is flying high and hopefully this year we can challenge for the Premier League.” ai??i?? Szczesny added
