Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has revealed that Arsenal FC goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has tried to convince him to join the Gunners.
The Polish international striker has recently signed a pre-contract with German giants Bayern Munich and he will join them in the summer for free as his contract expires with Borussia Dortmund. The Polish internationalai??i??s future came under a lot of speculation since it was revealed that he wonai??i??t extend his current contract with Dortmund. The German club decided against selling him at the start of this season despite the fact that he will leave for free and since then he has been linked with a lot of clubs across Europe.
There was a lot of interest in him from England as well as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal were linked with a move for the 25-year-old striker. The Gunners, who were looking for a new striker in since last summer were keen on Lewandowski, but anything substantial failed to materialize eventually. Lewandowski has now revealed that his compatriot Wojciech Szczesny tried to convince him to join the London club before he signed for Bayern Munich.
“I can confirm that Wojciech Szczesny tried to convince me to join Arsenal.
“We had several talks about this. It was him who did most of the talking, how the club looks inside, what Arsene Wenger thinks of me.
“When we trained before the Champions League games at Colney, there were important people from Arsenal at our sessions as well.” ai??i?? The Polish international said in an interview.
Lewandowski also insisted that after sorting out his future, he is remains committed to Borussia Dortmund for the remaining six months of his contract and is concentrating on helping them reach their goals this season.
