Arsenal FC have made progress in their pursuit of Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy and are expected announce the signing after the World Cup.
Mathieu Debuchy has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer as the Gunners continue their search for Bacary Sagnaai??i??s replacement, and recent reports suggest that the London club are close to reaching an agreement with the French international over a move to the Emirates.
Debuchy joined Newcastle United from Lille in January transfer window of 2013 and became a permanent fixture in the line-up since his arrival. The 29-year-old right back made 28 starts in the league for Newcastle United last season and produced some eye catching performances.
Debuchy earned a place in the French national team squad that flew to Brazil and became their first choice right back, ahead of former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna.
Arsenal are expected to spend heavily in this transfer market and a new right back is at the top of their priority list after Bacary Sagna decided to join Manchester City. The Gunners have been linked with a lot of possible replacement for the Frenchmen, but latest reports from England suggest that they are close to completing their move for Debuchy and are expected to officially announce the signing after the World Cup.
Debuchy is believed to be keen on a move to Arsenal as well and he has publicly admitted his desire to play in the Champions League.
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a A?12m move for the right back, while Newcastle United are already in the market for his replacement. The Magpies have been linked to a move for Manchester City defender Micah Richards and Dutch international Daryl Janmaat.
Mathieu Debuchy has also fuelled speculations by removing Newcastle United from his twitter bio as he prepares for Franceai??i??s quarter-final clash against Germany in the World Cup.
