Atletico Madrid’s promising right-back Javier Manquillo has put his Marseille loan on hold after learning of Arsenal‘s interest in him.
It is now likely that the youngster will join the Premier League giants after the Gunners officials approached his agent regarding a summer move.Ai??
French side Marseille were taking the player on loan for the season and had the option to make the move permanent at the end. But interest from Arsenal has put the move on hold as Manquillo is reportedly keen on a move to England.
Spanish daily AS stated that Manquillo wants regular playing time in the top division and wants to leave last season’s La Liga champions as he knows he would remain a cover for Juanfran for some years now.
New Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa is keen to improve his squad after a lackluster season for the French side and reports suggested that he has his eyes set on Atletico’s wonder-kid. Biesla is an admirer of the player and his desire to land the 20 year old made the French side’s management start negotiations with the Spanish club. The deal was almost set to be underway but Arsenal’s newfound interest in the player means a setback for Biesla.
