Arsenal FC captain Thomas Vermaelen has revealed that he is still unsure about his future at the club, amidst growing interest from Manchester United.
Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelenai??i??s future has come under a lot of speculations this summer with reports in media suggesting that Manchester United are keen to sign the Belgium international, among other clubs. The former Ajax center back has now revealed that he remains undecided about his future at the Emirates and that he will hold talks with the London club.
The 28-year-old joined the Gunners back in 2009 and quickly established himself in the first team squad. After the departure Cesc Fabregas in 2011 and Robin van Persie in 2012, the former Ajax defender was promoted as the captain of the side, as he displayed leadership skills at the back. But Vermaelenai??i??s performances went downhill after being honoured with his responsibility. He committed some glaring mistakes at the back and also struggled with his fitness eventually.
Following the arrival of Per Mertesacker, the Belgium international has been relegated to the bench, while the German international and Laurent Koscielny became the preferred choice for Arsene Wenger at the back. The duo has been in impressive form since then and Vermaelen is unlikely to break into the first team any time soon.
The Belgium international, who was in Brazil with his national side, has already expressed his desire to leave Emirates in search of regular first team action. Reports suggest that the center backAi??will look for a move in the summer, as looks to follow Bacary Sagna through the exit doors at the Emirates in this transfer window.

Fiorentina and Napoli have been monitoring his situation at Arsenal, with Manchester United joining the race to sign him. United endured a disappointing season last time around and are expected to spend heavily in the summer. The Red Devils are in desperate need to strengthen their defence after the departure of experienced duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Patrice Evraai??i??s future at Old Trafford has also come under a lot of speculations following the arrival of Luke Shaw from Southampton and Vermaelenai??i??s versatility means he can act as a back-up left back if the need arises.
