Gervinho Completes His Move To AS Roma From Arsenal
The Ivorian international has completed his move from Arsenal to Italian club AS Roma for an undisclosed fee.
Gervinho joined the Gunners back in 2011 after a successful stint with French club Lille. But he failed to recreate that level of performance for the London club. Personally for him, the past two seasons has been highly inconsistent and disappointing. Gervinho fell down the pecking order after the new arrivals last season and although he was used as a striker by Arsene Wenger for few matches (a phase during which he did manage to score few important goals), Gervinho never managed to hold onto his place in the starting eleven. The 26-year-old made only 12 starts in the league last season and his future at the Emirates was always shrouded with speculations.
But Arsene Wenger confirmed fews days ago that the London club are close to offloading Gervinho and it was only a matter of time before this deal was announced.

Roma have had an extremely active summer, where they have signed as many as 13 new players, including the capture of Napoli custodian Morgan De Sanctis and highly rated midfielder Kevin Strootman. Roma manager, Garcia, has expressed his delight at completing their move for Gervinho and insisted that he will offer something different in attack.
‘Iai??i??m happy with (Gervinho’s) signing, as I was happy with the captures of Morgan De Sanctis and Kevin Strootman.
‘Gervinho is a quick player, heai??i??s good at going deep and he has different characteristics to other players.’ ai??i?? Garcia told the press.
Although the highly anticipated new signings are yet to be seen, Arsenal continues their success in offloading deadwood this summer. The Gunners have already sold the likes of Arshavin, Squillaci, Denilson and now Gervinho. Chamakh and Bendtner are also expected to leave the Emirates this summer. So many departures are perhaps the sign of Arsenal finally making their big move in the market.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has questioned the price tag on Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale.
Tottenham have already turned down a massive offer from Real Madrid for the Welshman. Atlhough Daniel Levy has publicly maintained that Bale wonai??i??t be sold this summer, reports suggest that Spurs are demanding ai??i??100mAi??for their prized asset in a deal which might also involve young Spaniard Alvaro Morata.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that both the clubs are currently in negotiation, but he has questioned the astronomic price tag on Gareth Bale.
“We are talking with a lot of people and we will see what comes of our negotiations, I am talking about that player (Bale) and others.
“I do not want to talk about players out of respect to the player himself (Bale), the club and the chairman (Daniel Levy) who is a friend of mine and with whom I struck up a good friendship last summer because of the transfer of Luka Modric.
“If we’re not talking about names, we’re not talking about money either, but 100 million (euros) seems a lot to me,” he said with a smile. “But I am not talking seriously because there is no need and, as I said, out of respect for the club.” ai??i?? Real Madrid president told the press.
