Tottenham Hotspur are yet to bid for Chadli; close in on Daniel Opare
Daniel Opare joined Standard Liege back in 2010 after spending nearly two seasons with Real Madridai??i??s reserve side. He has grown in stature over the last two seasons and is now drawing interests from a lot of clubs across Europe, including Tottenham. The 22-year-old can play both as a right-back and as a left-back. It is believed that Tottenham are seeing him as a direct replacement for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who had a disappointing campaign last season.
Opare is relishing the prospect of signing for Spurs and playing in the English Premier League. He has stated his desire to join the London club as soon as they reach an agreement with Standard Liege
“I am flattered by the interest of Spurs. They are a very good team in England I will jump at the chance to join them if they reach an agreement with my current club.
“I know there is a long way to go yet and also the level in England is a lot higher than in Belgium, but I think I can play there at a good level.
“If I get the chance to play for a team like Tottenham I will take it.” ai??i?? The Belgium international was told the press.
Opareai??i??s current contract ends in 2014 and there is a possibility that Tottenham can land him for just A?2 million. Spurs are also looking to do the same for FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli, whose contract will expire next season. The 23-year-old winger, who has represented both the Moroccan and Belgian national team, has had an impressive season in the Eredivisie. Chadli also impressed with a string of good performances in the Europa League.
Chadli has played mostly as a left winger, but is versatile enough to play anywhere across the attacking trio behind the main striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation. With Bale looking to move to a more central role in attack, Chadli could take his place on the left. But despite Tottenhamai??i??s reported interest in him, FC Twente Chairman Jens Munsterman has revealed that the club is yet to receive any offer from Spurs. He also insisted that Swansea and Shakhtar have already made their move for him, but Nacer Chadli is unwilling to move to either of these clubs.
