Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to signing Croatian teenagers Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj, who has also been linked with their rivals Arsenal FC.
But the latest reports from Croatia suggest that Tottenham Hotspurs are close to signing both these youngsters and deal is expected to be announced soon. The transfer fee involved in this deal is expected to be around A?15million, along with some add-ons and performance bonuses.
Tin Jedvaj was promoted to the senior team of the club last season and made 13 appearances for Dino Zagreb in the league, which they won by a big margin. The young center-back, who is the son of a former footballer Zdenko Jedvaj, also made his debut for the Croatian U-19 team this year. Recent reports suggested that AS Roma has failed with a A?5million bid for the youngster, while Arsenal were lining up a bid of their own after scouts gave rave review about the youngster to Arsene Wenger.
Alen Haliliovic, like Jedvaj, has come under the spot light at a very young age. The midfielder is extremely talented and made a total of 21 appearances for Zagreb last season, three of which came in the Champions League as a substitute. Like Jedvaj, Halilovic is also the son of a former footballer, Sejad Haliliovic ai??i?? who has played international football for both Croatia and Bosnia, and has played in the La Liga for Real Vallodolid. The 17-year-old became the youngest (he was 16 then) player to play in the Croatian league when he made his debut in the Eternal derby against Hajduk Split. He is also became the youngest goal scorer in the league, when he found the back of the net against Slaven Belupo. During Zagrebai??i??s match against PSG in the group stages of the Champions League, he also became the second youngest player in the history of the competition. These are quite an impressive achievements for the youngster, who only signed his first professional contract back in 2012. Incredibly, Halilovic has also made his debut for the Croatian senior national team in a friendly against Portugal this year.
The midfielder has often been compared with former Tottenham player Luka Modric, but Zagrebai??i??s Sporting Director Zoran Mamic has recently said that Halilovic is one step ahead.
“A lot of people have compared him to Luka Modric, but heai??i??s better than Luka was at this age.
“Everyone at the club thinks he has even more potential and that he will become one of the best players in the world.” ai??i?? Mamic was quoted in an interview.
It seems like Tottenham have signed two future superstars. But it is unlikely that Spurs fans will see them in the Tottenham colour immediately as reports suggest that the Croatian duo are expected to be loaned back to Zagreb immediately after the signing is completed.
