Luis Suarez may resort to a legal route to secure a move to Arsenal
Brendan Rodgers recently spoke strongly about Arsenal’s pursuit of his player, “I was surprised. I’ve got to say I’ve always associated Arsenal as a club with class and so there was a wee bit of a game there. For us, it’s about moving on and doing our own work. Luis Suarez’s camp and Liverpool are in dispute over a clause in his contract. Suarez believes Liverpool were to allow him to speak to a club if an offer of overAi??A?40m came in, which Arsenal seem to have done, while Liverpool stand firm on their claim that they were merely obliged to inform the player about the bid and then inform the club about the actual price that they seek from his transfer.
Suarez isAi??believedAi??to be considering his legal options and may take Liverpool to court to settle the dispute, as handing in a transfer request (the other alternative) isn’t on the agenda as of today.
THT Verdict:Ai??As is the case with Rooney’s case, Liverpool don’t want to sell their top player to a club directly in competition for Champions League places with them and the reality was that ever since Suarez made his intentions of leaving the Merseyside club clear, both the player and Liverpool wanted Real Madrid to show interest and eventually complete the deal. Madrid, however, have their eyes fixed on Gareth Bale at the moment and aren’t even looking towards Suarez.
Furthermore, the player is valued at least atAi??A?50m, which is nowhere close to the bids that Arsenal have made. Even in the unlikely scenario of aAi??A?50m bid from Arsene Wenger, Liverpool will still be reluctant to sell their prized asset unless they secure a replacement, and today there are aren’t really any options in the market capable enough to compensate for Suarez’s departure. Even in the case of Fernando Torres, who had handed a transfer request, Liverpool only sold their player after securing his replacement and even that didn’t turn out well. So after that and the following massive outflow on English players, Liverpool would anyway not be keen to seek a quick-fix solution as their strategy is clearly long-term. So unless Suarez takes Liverpool to court and the ruling is in his favor (before the window shuts) or suddenly a player such as Edin Dzeko becomes available, theAi??Uruguayan is likely remain at Liverpool.
