Manchester United Warned Off Gareth Bale; FC Barcelona Favourites For Gundogan

Latest rumours report that United might not be able to get their hands on targets Bale or Gundogan.

Manchester United were linked with Real Madridai??i??s world record signing Gareth Bale recently. Bale had not settled down to the best of starts at the Bernabeu and United were believed to have been keeping tabs on the whole situation. However, on the back of Real Madridai??i??s 7-3 thrashing of Sevilla, in which the Welshman scored two goals and created two more, his manager Carlo Ancelotti has warned United off Bale, stressing on his importance to the club.

The Spanish press had lambasted Bale following Realai??i??s Clasico defeat to Barcelona, where Baleai??i??s performance was abject at best. Brought in to add more firepower to the Real forward line, Bale was woeful in the game and was called the worst player in Ancelottiai??i??s side. This had prompted rumours of Baleai??i??s return to England, with Manchester United interested in the Welshman. David Moyes, in fact is believed to have bid a 100 million pounds on Bale in the summer, but the former Spurs star had his heart set on joining Madrid.

However, following his exploits against Sevilla, Bale has been made indispensable by Ancelotti who praised Bale and called him the Real Bale against Sevilla:

“Tonight everyone saw the real Gareth,” said Ancelotti.

“He played really well, showing fantastic skills. It takes time [to adapt] but it was a necessity. Now he doesn’t have problems physically and he is improving his confidence, so he will be very important for us in the future.”

Bale scored from a Benzema lay off and scored from a deflected free kick, before providing assists for Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo as Real Madrid hammered Sevilla to mark a perfect comeback from their Clasico disappointment. Bale certainly looked close to his best and the only way for the Welsh winger is up from here on.

David Moyes, meanwhile, also looks set to miss out on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. Having been a target for Manchester United and Arsenal recently, Gundogan now has active interest from Barcelona as the Catalan giants look for a long term replacement for Xavi. At 33, Xavi, although one of the first names on the Barcelona team sheet is not going to last much longer at the highest level and Gundogan provides the perfect blend of talent, experience and age to replace the Spanish master passer.

At 23, Gundogan has amassed great experience in the Bundesliga, Champions League and internationally with the German national team. Gundogan had earlier also been linked with a 25 million pound bid by Real Madrid, but Barcelona seem determined to make him a Catalan next season. Gundoganai??i??s hesitance to sign a new deal with Borussia has only given rise to the rumours. According to AS, Barcelonaai??i??s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta travelled to Dortmund at the start of this week to discuss a possible move for Gundogan.
