Manchester United returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
For most of the first half Crystal Palace made it hard for Manchester United to score past them with an organised defence. But all of that changed after Kagisho Dikgacoi was sent off for a rash challenge on Ashley Young. It was an important decision for the referee to make as he had already booked Ashley Young for diving in that half. Robin van Persie stepped up and scored from the resultant penalty and since that moment United cruised to a victory.
The second half of the match saw the much awaited introduction of Marouane Fellaini, as he replaced Anderson. It was a good cameo performance for the former Everton man, but there is lot more to come from him. Another second half substitute, Adnan Januzaj, showed glimpses of his immense potential after coming on for Ashley Young. Later on in the match Wayne Rooney doubled the lead with his first goal of the season.
David Moyes would have been happy with this performance especially after the loss to Liverpool in their last match. Crystal Palace on the other hand faced their third defeat in four games and it seems like Ian Holloway will find it hard to keep Palace away from the relegation zone this season. Much will depend on their performance at home, because they are unlikely to pick up many points on the road.
David Moyes in his post-match interview was asked about the diving incident and the former Everton manager made it clear that it is something he wonai??i??t like to see in his team and that he will have a word with Young regarding this.

Moyes also felt that the sending off Dikgacoi in the penalty incident was a harsh decision, but one that was bounded by the letter of the law.
‘I don’t like the rule where every time it is the last man it means it is (a red card).’
‘I thought it was harsh. If I was Ian Holloway I would be disappointed.
‘OK, it might be a penalty. But I don’t think the boy made a challenge to wipe him out.
‘Unfortunately that is the rule.’ ai??i?? He added.
The United manager was also sceptical about fielding Rooney in the game due to his head injury, but did so with the protective headband.
‘It was a difficult decision.
‘We got the headband on Friday and we wanted to see how he felt with it. If I thought he could wear it I would try and get him out.
‘He tired a little bit in the second-half but I wanted to get the 90 minutes out of him because he lacks match practice.ai??i?? ai??i?? He told the press.
Moyes was also very impressed with the performance of Adnan Januzaj after he came on as sub. The Scotsman revealed that he considered starting with the young Belgian initially and hoped that he can continue his development.
‘I considered playing him from the start,’ said Moyes.
‘His performance when he came on showed it would have been merited. He didn’t looked fazed and did a lot of good things. He moved the ball well. He is going to be a good player.’ ai??i?? Moyes said.
