Liverpool have apparently been in negotiations with Luis SuA?rezai??i?? representatives for a few weeks now and Liverpoolai??i??s seriousness in keeping their prized asset away from the hullabaloo of the upcoming transfer window is visible. Managing Director of the club, Ian Ayre flew to Barcelona to meet agent SuA?rezai??i??s agent Pere Guardiola on Tuesday.
The club is ready to make SuA?rez one of the highest paid players in the history of the Premier League to ensure they donai??i??t have to deal with another window of uncertainty.
The 26 year oldAi??has two and a half years left on his current deal, andAi??the Merseyside giantsAi??know that they have to tie down the player with a sumptuous pay package, which in all probability be more than clubai??i??s highest earner Steven Gerrard.
The reason for the MD of the club to travel down to Spain and negotiate a deal with the Uruguayan internationalai??i??s agent is to put across the message that Livepool aim to do everything achievable to keep the Premier Leagueai??i??s top scorer within their ranks and warrant that money not become any sort of a negative factor in a decision regarding his future.
Ian Ayre has also stressed that the owners of the club, Americans John W Henry and Tom Werner are fully behind this plan and want to progress along the negotiation deals.
Manager Brendan Rodgers heaped praises on the player and clearly hinted that there will be talks regarding an increment in his contract, even though there is ample of time remaining on it
There are not many like him. There are some outstanding talents but when you have actually got one, you have to fight tooth and nail to keep it. That is something we will look to do. We want him to stay and with his contract running for two-and-a-half years I am sure there will be something between now and the end of the season.
However, he is not solely focused on SuA?rezai??i?? contract situation and doesnai??i??t want his squad to as well as he feels that if Liverpool take care of the football, SuA?rezai??i?? contract will take care of itself:
Contractually, with any players, it is private so at the minute he is just focusing on his football. We are just very much focused on our performance level, improving and improving players, and I think that will all take care of itself. I don’t think there is any rush at this moment in time. Of course he is a player we want to keep here and build the team around in the coming years.
Luis SuA?rez did look like a happy, content player after being awarded the Football Supporter Federation (FSF) Player of the Year award and said that the highlight of this year was coming back to Anfield and win the Kop back:

Former Liverpool player Didi Hamann cleverly comments about the need for clarity to be there, and for SuA?rez to understand that the contract means commitment:
He could sign a new contract now, take the A?200,000 a week, the team finishes outside the top four and you have the same shenanigans. I want him to stay but there needs to be clarity. He has got to understand what it means to commit. If there is a clause that he can go for A?60million, A?80million and someone pays it, that is obviously fair enough, but you can’t have a situation again like you had last summer.
While it is clearly a good move to get SuA?rez to commit to Liverpool and not have cheeky bids for A?40,000,001 to rope him to another club, Liverpool will have to finish in the top 4 for the Liverpool forward to actually commit to the club outside the bonds of paper. If Liverpool finish outside the top four and the management does make the Uruguayan sign a new contract, it is obvious that the bids the Anfield outfit receives for the player will be enough to make him play the 2014-15 season elsewhere.
SuA?rez, who missed the first five matches of the league, still has more individual goals than many teams in the league. The player has had an exemplary season so far and he looks confident enough to carry this form to the latter half of the season. Bids are going to come in for the man, contract or no contract. Liverpool need Champions League for the forward to stay at Anfield, and like Rodgers said, once the squad takes care of the football, the uncertainty of SuA?rez committing to the club takes care of itself.
