Liverpool FC climbed their way back into second place with an emphatic win over Fulham at Anfield.
Liverpool came out in this game with lot of intent from the start as they looked to bounce back from the defeat at the hands of Arsenal in their last league fixture. This wonderful performance against Fulham will restore the confidence back into the side. Fulham on the other could find themselves down in the relegation zone at the end of this weekend if Stoke manages to win against Swansea. The London side have now lost three matches on the bounce.
Fulham got off to a poor start in this game as an own goal from new signing Fernando Amorebieta gave Liverpool an early lead. Steven Gerrardai??i??s free-kick was headed in my 28-year-old center-back from close range. Just three minutes later Fulham once again failed to deal with another set-piece of the Liverpool skipper and this time Martin Skrtel headed home from a Steven Gerrard corner. But there was not retrieve for Fulham after that as Liverpool rounded off an amazing first half performance with a third goal just 10 minutes later.
It was a wonderful Liverpool move as Steven Gerrard found Henderson with a cross-field pass and the midfielder drifted in from the right wing and set Suarez through on goal with an amazing pass behind the Fulham defence. The Uruguayan international kept his calm and slotted home to score his first goal of the game. Liverpool were in cruise control of the game at that point having scored three goals in a wonderful thirteen minute spell.
The home side continued their dominance in the second half and created number of opportunities. Maarten Stekelenburg made a wonderful double save, first from Suarez and then from Sturridge just two minutes into the second half. The Uruguayan international missed from the rebound as he put the ball into the stands. But the striker did complete his brace just seven minutes later.
Jordan Henderson hounded Kieran Richardson into a mistake and the Steven Gerrard put through Suarez with a good pass. The 26-year-old finished clinically to score his eighth league goal of the season in just six appearances. The match ended 4-0, but Liverpool could have easily scored few more in that game.
Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his sideai??i??s performance and how they have bounced back from the disappointing result against Arsenal last weekend. The former Swansea manager heaped praise on club captain Steven Gerrard and his ability to deliver quality from set-pieces.
“It’s great credit to the players, I thought the performance was outstanding today.
“We weren’t too down. You are obviously disappointed when you lose a big game, but Arsenal are probably one of the form teams in European football.
“We have had a real good week’s work and the players and their appetite for the game was brilliant. If you mirror that with the quality, it was a really outstanding performance.
“I thought the goals were outstanding. I have always thought that Steven Gerrard, since I have come in here, his quality from a dead-ball – you look at him and David Beckham as two players who are way above anybody else in terms of quality.
“I have always felt with our players that they haven’t scored enough goals from his deliveries, because he puts it exactly where you want him to put it. We have started to do that a lot more regularly.” ai??i?? The Liverpool manager told the press.
Rodgers also maintained that keeping the clean sheet was as important as scoring all the goals and expressed his delight at this complete performance.
“We said at half-time, the message was to keep the coordination as a team.
“We can still be relentless in our pressure to score more goals, but we wanted a clean sheet today. That was something that was important, so we got everything in the performance. It was a good three points for us.” ai??i?? He added.

The Uruguayan international has been in sensational form since his return from suspension and has already scored eight goals in just six league appearances. Both of his goals came from his wonderful movement in behind the defence and calm and composed finished at the end of it.
