Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has played down exit talks of Luis Suarez and rumours linking them with a move for Christian Eriksen.
Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich at the end of this season, with Liverpool looking likely to fail in their pursuit of Champions League qualification, once again. It is an accepted fact that a player of Suarezai??i??s calibre deserves Champions League football. The rumours of his exit were also recently fuelled by his comments while he was in Uruguay for international duty.
The 26-year-old has recently quoted as saying that he would ai???welcomeai??i?? offers from teams competing in the Champions League next season. But Brendan Rodgers has disregarded those comments stating that what a player says while he is on international duty is irrelevant.
“I haven’t spoken to Luis yet. He was back late on Thursday and we just ran the medical team over him and he trained on Friday.
“All I am aware of is we have an outstanding player who has given everything for the club and he is very happy here.
“Every time he goes away, there is always something. I always say to players I have a simple rule: when you are with Liverpool just talk about Liverpool and when you are away with your international team concentrate on your international team so there is no drama.
“So what he says when he is with Uruguay is of no great relevance to Liverpool.” ai??i?? The Liverpool manager was quoted as saying in press.
But Rodgers or the Liverpool fans canai??i??t ignore the fact that the club needs to show more ambition in the transfer market next season if they want to hold on to Suarez. Talking of which, the club has been linked with Christian Eriksen recently. Ajax technical director Marc Overmars has also confirmed Liverpool interest by revealing the fact that the scouts from the Merseyside club have been regularly monitoring the highly rated midfielder.
“We have the list of scouts from foreign clubs recently seen and Liverpool scouts have been regular visitors” ai??i?? Overmars told the press.
But once again, Brendan Rodgers has played down these rumours and Overmarsai??i?? comments insisting one shouldnai??i??t assume that the club is scouting Eriksen in particular.
“If you read what he says, he says we’ve had scouts there – but we could have been watching any of them, we could have been watching players from the other team. I won’t speculate on anything.” ai??i?? Rodgers added.
If Liverpool are interested in Eriksen, they will surely face competition from a lot of other European clubs in the summer, including Manchester United, who are closely monitoring his progress at Ajax.
