Koke has seen his stock rise over the past few weeks this season. Atletico Madrid are currently flying in the league with eight wins in eight games and they have also managed to outscore everyone else except Barcelona. While Diego Costa and David Villa takes most of the spot light in attack, Koke has been as important any other player in the squad.
This in many ways is turning out to be the breakthrough season for the Spaniard. He has already scored two and created six for this team mates. Currently he leads the assists chart in La Liga along with Cesc Fabregas.
Koke has been at the club since the age of eight. He was drafted into the Atletico B side back in 2008 and after spending three successful years in that team, Koke was promoted to the first team squad by manager Javier Aguirre in the 2009-10 season. Kokeai??i??s prodigious talent was always there to see and at the age of 21, the Spaniard has already made 118 appearances for the first team in all competitions.
But like most of the current Atletico Madrid players, Kokeai??i??s best came to forefront under the guidance of present Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. His development as a player has seen him make his debut for the Spanish national side and this season he is finally close to fulfilling his potential. But there is lot more to come from this youngster and it isnai??i??t a coincidence that so many big European clubs are monitoring him, including Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to add another creative midfielder to the squad in January after missing out on his initial targets Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa and Willian last summer. Coutinhoai??i??s injury and the fact Liverpool donai??i??t exactly have a similar replacement for him in the squad means that Rodgers will look to add a bit of creativity to the squad this winter.
Brendan Rodgers is also said to be worried about the lack of goals from his midfielders. While Suarez and Sturridge are in their current form this wonai??i??t matter, but perhaps Liverpool have become too dependent on these two to find the back of the net.
Reports suggest that the Merseyside club are lining up a move for Atletico Madrid youngster Koke in the January transfer window. Liverpool scouts have monitored the Spaniard and Rodgers is impressed with his development this season.
But it will be tough for Liverpool to prize away Koke from the Madrid based club as he is seen a key player in Diego Simeoneai??i??s side and has recently signed a contract extension till 2018. It will take an outrageous offer from Liverpool for Atletico to even consider it. But with Liverpool near the top of the table, a big money investment on Koke could provide the final push for a title challenge.
