Liverpool presently have a squad strength of sixteen and need their injuries to recover fast.
The Reds have been given a boost as captain Steven Gerrard is apparently nearing his comeback Ai??after a hamstring injury picked up in the match against West Ham on December 7 ruled him out for at least a month. It is believed that Gerrard could figure against the Hull Tigers in Liverpool’s next match on New Year’s Day. The Liverpool manager commented:
There were one or two other niggles that we’ll just assess in the next 24 hours.Ai??Steven has joined back in training, so we’ll see how he is for Hull, and I would think that probably by the Stoke game [January 12] we’ll have a number of the others who’ll not be too far away.Ai??But certainly for the Hull game we’ll have to rely on more or less what we had.
Jordan Henderson is believed to be fit for Hull despite picking up an injury. Rodgers said:
Jordan Henderson is fine. He’s on his first day of recovery today. He’s still sore, but he’s a real solider and should be fine.
Joe Allen and Madamou Sakho were the two others who got injured in the Chelsea match, both being substituted eventually, and both are expected to be out of the squad for a while. The Liverpool manager added:

Christian Tello- Anfield Bound?
Liverpool eyeing Christian Tello has been the subject of news items in the last three transfer windows and it seems that the Reds are set to land the Barcelona winger on loan for the rest of the season
With the growing list of injuries, Rodgers squad has suffered a big blow for Liverpool’s ambitions for a top 4 spot and it seems that Northern Irishman would want the 22 year old to add to his squad strength. The Barcelona winger is clearly not part of the first team plans as he has managed just two starts this season.Ai??Radio Marca claim Tello will be the first new arrival at Anfield next month.Ai??According to Marca, Liverpool are planning to sign Tello on loan this winter with a view to make the deal permanent in the next summer.
Tello is under contract with Barcelona till 2018 and has managed a singular senior cap for Spain. However, he featured prominently during the Under-21 side which won the Euros in Israel back in June.
