THT takes a closer look at Blackburn Rovers‘ Jordan Rhodes who has attracted interest from a number of English powerhouses after his successful move from Huddersfield to Blackburn last summer. The young Scot is now a regular for his international team and has showed great promise and a wonderful eye for goal. Football league one player of the season 2011-12, multiple golden boots and scoring records at Huddersfield, Rhodes is here to stay. Considered by many as the finest player in England playing outside the Premier League, there is no shortage of ability in the Ipswich youth product.

Like every great goalscorer, once in the box Rhodes can smell blood and knows exactly where the goal is. He scored 36 goals in 40 games for Huddersfield back in 2011-12 and has hit the ground running at Blackburn, leading the goalscoring charts with 23 goals this season. Rhodes’ composure in front of goal and calmness in one on one situations happens to be his biggest strength.

For a player who scores so many goals, Rhodes doesn’t have many touches of the ball. His passing is decent over short ranges but lacks imagination and creativity when dropping deep to receive the ball. Having said that, the Scot is never shy of keeping the ball moving and despite not having a very high passing percentage, he compensates for it by being ready to receive a pass more often than not.

Jordan Rhodes could be categorized as a player with acceptable pace. It would be an unlikely sight to see him take on a defender and beat him for pace.
