160. Ranti Martins to extend his stay at Prayag United
I-League top scorer Ranti Martins has revealed that he will be staying at Prayag United next season. The club was in deep financial trouble and it was expected that many of the high earners might bid adieu to the Kolkata club. Indian Galacticos might have lost their financial power, still they possess the trick to hang on to their important players. Indian international Vineeth CK had extended his contract earlier, while midfield general Lalkamal Bhomick expressed his desire to continue with the club in its tough time. The 3 time golden boot winner and the AIFF best player award winners decision will be a major boost to the whole team. Prayag United will again start dreaming of a title challenge, as the striker who scored 27 goals last season is fine tuning his armoury to torment the opposition defences.

161. Sunil Chhetri travels to Sporting Lisbon with the hope of returning to Bangalore.
Indian Football team skipper Sunil Chhetri had a horrible time in Portugal warming the benches in Portugal before returning to India in a loan deal with Churchill Brothers. He recaptured his fitness and form in that spell as the season came to an end in I-League. Chhetri is set to return to Portugal to honour his contract. But he is optimistic about his chances at Sporting and doesn’t wish to warm the bench again. Chhetri has a good offer from Bangalore based JSW group and he even hinted that he might return here in one month’s time. It will be very difficult for him to convince the Portugese think tank to earn playing time there, so a return to India might happen in the future.

162. Sporting Club de Goa signs Churchill Brothers goalkeeper.
21-year-old goalkeeper Melroy Fernandez was part of Goa’s Santhosh trophy squad and had a good learning experience under his role model Feliz D’Sousa at Churchill Brothers. The youngster is highly rated in many quarters and had came through the ranks of Salgaocar SC and Sporting Club de Goa. He was impressed by teh promotion of youngster within Sporting’s ranks and decided that a move to Flaming Oranje side will be beneficial for him at this juncture. He had an impressive Santhosh Trophy campaign in Kerala were he earned two Man-of-the-Match award also. Hopes are high on Melroy Fernandez and he will be hoping to break into Flaming Oranje’s first eleven.

Champions Churchill Brothers has the penchant for signing quality foreign players and usually sets the benchmark in Indian Football. They have retained strikerAi??Henry Antouchet from last season, and has added Portuguese duoAi??defender EurAi??pedes Amoreirinha and attacking midfielder Hugo Machado to strengthen their team. They still have one more spot to include a foreign player from Asia. Coach Mariano Dias said that they will be calling a few players on trial during the pre-season to select the best one available.

With the new foreigners rule in I-League, Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil is trying to play his cards right by selecting the right personal. They have decided to retain one of their best players in Zohib AmiriAi??who was the fulcrum of the team last season. Extending the deal with FPAI’s player of the Year award winner Amiri will be a huge boost to the Mumbai based team. Talks are progressing with veteran striker Yusif Yakubu over a new deal as well. With the new role, four foreigners are likely to start in all matches and Mumbai FC is trying to make the best use of it by holding on to its best players and then building from the base.
