Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh To Get A Taste of Football
Located in the heart of Indian mainland, the two states combine to form a vast area of Indian mainland and also are densely populated but there has been a dearth of footballers emerging out of these areas. U-19 League To Be Held at Jamshedpur
The U-19 League will be played form the 6th of March and it will be played at the Tata Football Academy Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. TheAi??U-19 I-League this time will feature Tata Football Academy and the SESA Academy after the AIFF included them given their excellent contribution to youth development in Indian Football. The venue has been aptlyAi??chosenAi??as TFA, Jamshedpur as a lot of of Indian football players have graduated from the TFA with Alwyn George being the latest.
With all I-League clubs present, it will present a great opportunity to the young players from SESA and TFA academies to present themselves before the club scouts. It would also give much needed media coverage to TFA who have served Indian Football for a long time and encourage the youth in the state that has produced several hockey and cricket players to take up the sport.
I-League Division-2 Ai??In Karnataka
BangaloreAi??boasts of Ai??a wellAi??maintained football ground and a city league which has three divisions yet after the relegation of HAL, the state lost its onlyAi??representative in the I-League. Therefore, the move of hosting the initial and final round of I-League Division-2, Ai??like the one of awarding Santosh Trophy to Kerala, is aimed at boasting the interest for the beautiful game in the state. Managed by former Indian International Raman Vijayan South United FC will look to qualify for the second round in front of the home crowd. Bangalore still has a huge talent base and fan following which is all set to grow with the division two matches.
Srinagar To Host Federation Cup
The 35th edition of the prestigious Federation Cup is all set to be held in Srinagar this year and this is significant for more than one reason. The hosting of a major national level tournament on one hand indicates the presence of peace and stability in the strife-torn state and on the other hand gives an opportunity to football fans in the state to get a taste of best footballing action in the country.
The state is home to former IndianAi??internationals Abdul Majid, Mehrajuddin Wadoo and East Bengal playerAi??Ishfaq Ahmed, both of whom have made a name for themselves in I-League.Ai??Mohun Bagan andAi??Mohammedan Sporting played friendly matches in the state last year and these matchesAi??were well attended and prominently covered in the local newspapers. With Durand Cup being the only major tournament organized in North India, the decision to host the Federation Cup in Srinagar is a significant one.
