Manchester United manager David Moyes looks back at his time at Everton and expresses his belief that Marouane Fellaini will eventually fulfill his potential at the club.
Manchester United made a slow start to their life under their new manager, but have been on a good run of form off-late. The reigning Premier League champions are currently on 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions. But they are coming into this fixture on the back of a disappointing draw against Cardiff City, where they conceded a later equalizer. It was their third draw in their last six Premier League matches. United are currently eighth in the league table and are nine points behind the league leaders Arsenal. Moyes would hope that his team can bounce back with a positive performance against Everton, who have lost just one of their thirteen Premier League matches so far under their new manager Roberto Martinez.
David Moyes looked back on his time at Everton during the pre-match press conference and thanked the club and the players for their support during his memorable stint at the Merseyside club.
“I had a great time at Everton. It was a great club for me at the time in my career when I left Preston North End. They were fabulous to me. They gave me a chance to succeed at the club the best I could.
“[But] I don’t think it’s any advantage that I know the players. They have a new manager there and he’s brought in his own players as well.
“I do know a lot of them; in fact, I probably brought all of them into Goodison, except the recent ones. They’re all really good players and I’ve got a lot to thank them for because they helped me to win games. But I’ve got to say Roberto’s gone in and done a really good job and kept it going.” ai??i?? The Manchester United manager told the press.
David Moyes, who was handed over the huge job of stepping into the shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson this summer, was well aware of the challenge he would face at the club after his arrival.
“I knew the enormity of the job at Manchester United ai??i?? that hasn’t changed for me at all. It’s the biggest job and for me personally it’s a great challenge.” ai??i?? He added.
Despite a slow start, which fuelled a lot of criticism initially from the fans and experts, Moyes is starting to win over his doubters. The former Everton manager also believes that Marouane Fellaini, who followed him to Manchester United this summer, will also prove his worth after he settles down in the squad and in the new environment.
“I think Marouane’s probably going through the same settling-in process as most players who join Manchester United go through.
“I don’t think it’s just Marouane or David Moyes; I think it’s players who join this club.
“ThereAi??are some players who hit the ground running and can go straight in. But then there are others for whom it takes quite a bit to settle in and there have been a few here.” ai??i?? Moyes said.
Moyes also revealed that Robin van Persie, who hasnai??i??t started since scoring the winner against Arsenal, is fit and available for selection against Everton.

The 50-year-old has also urged his side to maintain the momentum they have managed to build recently and keep producing the results.

We’ve done that but as I’ve repeated myself many times we let in a late goal at Cardiff which turned what would have been a really good week into one that wasn’t quite as good as we would have liked.
