Man Of The Match: Andros Townsend
The London club came into this game under a lot of pressure after the shocking defeat at home against West Ham in their last league game. Tottenham had to put things right immediately and they did so with a good performance at Villa Park.
Andre Villas-Boas made a lot of changes to the side that he fielded in the last game. Vertonghen switched to the left back spot, while Vlad Chiriches made his Premier League debut in the center of the defence. Dembele was dropped in favour of Sandro, while Defoe and Eriksen made way for Soldado and Holtby.
The first half was fairly scrappy with neither side able to dominate or keep hold of the possession for a long period. Andros Townsend, the man who has been all over the news in past few days, looked the most likely player on the pitch to create an opening and the England international didnai??i??t disappoint. The 22-year-old gave Spurs the lead as his attempted cross from the right found its way past Guzan into the back of the net.
Paul Lambert brought on Christian Benteke in the second half and the Belgium internationalai??i??s presence immediately lifted his side and the Villa fans. Ironically, Villa were enjoying their best spell in the match when Tottenham scored their second. Roberto Soldado was wonderfully set up by Paulinho and the Spaniard finished with aplomb. That was the first goal scored by a Tottenham striker from open play in the Premier League this season and Andre Villas-Boas would hope that it was the first of the many.
Tottenham dominated the game in the later stages as Villa left lot of space at the back. Andros Townsend was a constant threat down the wing and created plenty of opportunities to extend the lead. But the matches ended 2-0 in favour of the away side and they looked stronger as the game moved on.

The Portuguese tactician also heaped praise on the side for the way they have responded to that defeat in their last game and pointed out how his side improved their performance as the game moved on.
