Arsenal FC center back Per Mertesacker is being courted by Bundesliga side Wolfsburg ai??i?? general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed.
Mertesackerai??i??s biggest weakness has been is lack of pace and with Arsenal holding a dangerous high-line, the German internationalai??i??s weakness has been exposed far too often. But his presence has also increased Arsenalai??i??s ability to deal with long balls and crosses.
Reports in Germany reveals, Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are interested in signing the former Hannover center back in the summer. Wolfsburgai??i??s Sporting director Klaus Allof has revealed in an interview his admiration for Mertesackerai??i??s leadership skills and the German club will be in line to sign the 28-year-old if Arsenal decides to let him go.

Incidentally Klaus Allof was the sporting director of Werder Bremen when the German club signed Mertesacker from Hannover back in 2006. With Kyrgiakos, Madlung and Kjaer set to leave the club in the summer, Wolfsburg will surely need to revamp their defense. For a club still a considerable number of steps away from European football, the addition of Mertesacker will be a massive boost. Their position in the Bundesliga might not be most attractive for Mertesacker but the money that the Volkswagen owned club can offer might prove to be enough to drab the lanky defender back to Germany.
Although it seems unlikely that Arsenal would want to sell Mertesacker, given he has been the most consistent center back for the Gunners this season and also the fact that Vermaelenai??i??s future at the club has come under speculation. Arsenal will clear some of its deadwood next season as they prepare for a busy summer, but Mertesacker is unlikely to be on ai???to-sellai??i?? list.
