Arsenal Linked With Juventus Defender – Lichtsteiner

Arsenal FC are lining up a move for Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, while the Serie A champions are reportedly looking towards A?ukasz Piszczek, of Borussia Dortmund, as a possible replacement.

Bacary Sagna might have very well played his last game in an Arsenal shirt, during the Gunnersai??i?? crucial 1-0 victory over Newcastle United. The Frenchmanai??i??s future has been up for speculation ever since he publicly criticized the club at the start of the season, for selling their best players every season. The right-backai??i??s current contract expires in 2014 and he is yet to sign any contract extension. Latest reports suggest that Arsenal are only willing to provide him with an one-year contract extension as is their policy with players above the age of 30, while Sagna is interested in one last big deal at this stage of his career. Monaco and Inter are reportedly monitoring his situation and with Jenkinson proving his ability in the first half of the season, Arsnenal might off-load the Frenchman, whose performances have been inconsistent to say the least, if they get the right offer.

But Jenkinson is still too young for Arsenal to depend on him so heavily; the London club must look for an able replacement if Sagna leaves the Emirates. According to recent reports in Italy, Arsenal are lining up a move for Juventus right back Stephan Lichtsteiner as a replacement for Sagna. The 29-year-old has been an integral part of the Juventus squad since joining them from Lazio back in 2011. He has been a consistent performer in right side of the defence and is a firm favourite of Antonio Conte ai??i?? which of course makes this transfer highly improbable. Juventus are unlikely entertain any bid for him, that is unless Arsenal are prepared to pay an astronomical fee.

Reports from Italy also suggest that Juventus have already earmarked a replacement for Lichtsteiner, in case he leaves. The Italian club are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund right back A?ukasz Piszczek. The 27-year-old Polish international was signed from Hertha Berlin back in 2010 and has already won two Bundesliga titles with the German club. He has been an integral part of this Dortmund side and the Polish national side, for whom he has made 34 appearances till now. But like Arsenal as mentioned above, Juventus will find it hard to convince Borussia Dortmund to let go of Piszczek, especially considering the fact that the German side will already lose two key players in the summer.
