Arsenal Transfer News – Bendtner In Talks With Frankfurt ; Sagna Wants To Stay

Arsenal FC striker Nicklas Bendtner is currently in talks with German side Eintracht Frankfurt, while Bacary Sagna has expressed his desire to stay back at the club.

Nicklas Bendtner has spent the last two seasons on loan to Sunderland and Juventus and it is clear that he isnai??i??t part of the future plans of Arsene Wenger. The 25-year-old after initially refusing a move to German club Hamburg last season, he was surprisingly signed on loan by Serie A Champions Juventus. But he failed to make any impact at Turin as well, where his on field performances (read non-performances) were largely over shadowed by his off the field antics and injuries. Back in March, he was arrested for driving in a drunken state and was suspended from the Danish national team for six months.

Bendtner hasnai??i??t been able to clinch a move to any club till now despite Arsenal’s lack of interest in his services having been made very apparent. The reasons being Arsenalai??i??s high demands, initially, Bendtnerai??i??s high wages and also the fact that the Danish international was waiting for a ai???bigai??i?? club to come in with an offer. But now things have changed, both Arsenalai??i??s and Bendtnerai??i??s expectations have mellowed down.

The 25-year-old has revealed last week that the London club has received offers from five different clubs and he will make his decision in two weeks. Bendtner stated that he is prepared to join a club ai???below the topai??i?? in order to gain regular first team action.

Previously Borussia Dortmund have rejected claims that they are interested in signing the Danish international. But Bendtner was still linked with clubs like Malaga, Besiktas, Hamburg and Franfurt. Now Eintracht Frankfurt Sports Director has confirmed that the club is currently in talks with Bendtner regarding a possible move to the club.

Bacary Sagna Expresses His Desire To Stay

The 30-year-old right-backai??i??s future has been up for speculation since the start of this season. The rumours about his future were fuelled at the start of the season when the Frenchman criticized the clubai??i??s transfer policy, after they sold Robin van Persie and Alex Song, in public. The public outburst put him on the wrong side of Arsene Wenger and he was reprimanded. His injuries and Carl Jenkinsonai??i??s good form kept him out of the starting eleven for most part of the first half of this season.

Back in December, reports suggested that Arsenal have opened talks with Sagna regarding an extension, but were only offering the French international a one year extension, in line with their policy regarding players above 30. It was believed that Sagna felt he was disrespected by that offer and wanted a pay-rise on his current wages, which the Gunners arenai??i??t too keen upon considering his fitness concerns of late.

French clubs Monaco and PSG were reportedly interested in signing him this summer, and only a few days back Sagna was quoted as saying that he is ai???proudai??i?? to know of PSGai??i??s interest. The 30-year-old refused to rule out a move to either of these clubs. But the French international has now revealed that he is currently in talks with Arsenal regarding a contract extension and that he wishes to continue as a Gunner.

“We are still talking [about a new contract.

“I never said I wanted to leave the club, but there are some journalists who want to speculate as I have just one year to go.

“The fact is that I am still at Arsenal and I am looking forward to playing next season.

“Arsenal made me grow as a player and as a man. People have been talking about me going back to France, but at the moment I am at Arsenal.” ai??i?? The Arsenal defender was quoted in press.

It would be interesting to see Arsenalai??i??s decision regarding the defenderai??i??s future at the club, which they have to take quickly, or they might face the risk of losing him for free next season. Sagna, at 30, is believed to be looking at one last big contract. Although Arsene Wenger will be interested in retaining his services, it is unlikely for the club to offer him anything lucrative – be it in terms of pay or contract length.
