After Brendan Rodgers mentioned that the club was poised to make a ‘exciting’ signing this week, it has emerged that the ex-Swansea manager was referring to Roma forward, Fabio Borini.
Borini has worked earlier with Rodgers at Chelsea and recently at Swansea and was a part of the Italy’s squad for the Euro 2012. His age, 21, and his price, rumored to be around A?8m, makes this an even more exciting deal for Liverpool.
Borini has been very influential for Chelsea reserves and was their primary striker before he moved to Swansea on loan to help them gain promotion. He then moved to Roma where he has already scored 10 goals in 26 appearances and now will probably lead the charge at Liverpool alongside the mercurial Luis Suarez. BBC Sport has confirmed that Borini will be in all probability Brendan Rodgers’ first Liverpool signing.

With the news of Fabio Borini catching up momentum, Andy Carroll will be a worried man. Signed for A?35m, the Geordie has failed to justify his price tag and is under the scanner this transfer season. It is no secret that Rodgers loves playing a different kind of football to what Carroll would like.
Carroll’s first touch is poor and his height offers a variety to the squad. But, it is highly unlikely that he will be a first choice starter for Liverpool considering how Rodgers will shape his squad. So, pushing him to the bench may not be the best way to utilize A?35m. Also, the manager has confirmed that he will have to see how Carroll will fit into his plans when the pre-season kicks off.
It will be better for Carroll and Liverpool to part ways because the direction Liverpool have taken now and their signing of Fabio Borini may actually mean less playing time for the Englishman. Carroll can go to another club where his attributes will be utilized effectively.

This rumor has been going on for quite some time now and with the departure of Keita, the rumors have picked up more steam. While Athletic Bilbao value the midfielder at A?40m, Barca doesn’t have the required budget to pull off this deal unless they can sell someone.
According to Marca, the Catalan club may offload Ibrahim Afellay and Adriano to raise funds for Javi Martinez. Adriano is considered a surplus after the signing of Jordi Alba and it is still unclear if Tito Vilanova is willing to have Afellay in his team.
Chelsea In For Oscar

Oscar was courted by Villas-Boas and Tottenham Hotspur with great interest but according to The Telegraph, it appears that Chelsea have hijacked the deal for the 20-year-old Internacional star.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder has already been capped six times for his national team and was expected to move to Spurs after it emerged that the North London bid A?18m for him. But, Chelsea seems to have moved ahead of Spurs after bidding him for A?25m.
Chelsea have also bid for German striker, Andre SchA?rrle. But, their bid of A?17 million has been rejected by Bayer Leverkusen. It remains to be seen if Chelsea will come up with a higher bid to lure the German.
