THT Verdict: The Portuguese midfielder, who’s reached the semi-finals in Euro 2012, had signed for Chelsea from Liverpool forAi??A?10m last summer. Despite some good performances for The Blues last season, he was quite average overall. If Chelsea are to sign a top quality central midfielder, then he may become surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. However, we feel, before him the West London club should look to offload Michael Essien, as on present form Raul offers better value on the pitch. This supposed deal looks unlikely at the moment, but the situation can change if a signing is made and the sale of Meireles brings more money on the table than the sale of Essien.

THT Verdict:Ai??Even though Rodriguez is one of the most sought after talents across Europe, the last thing on United’s radar will be a winger. With Young, Nani, Valencia, Giggs and a couple of others already in the squad, the Red Devils have an embarrassment of riches in the wide midfield department and hence it is highly unlikely that Sir Alex would pay such a stupendous fee to get a relatively inexperienced player to play on the wings. The Guardian claims that Spurs, who are presently without a manager, have beaten the likes of Liverpool and Swansea and have agreed a fee ofAi??ai??i??10m fee with Hoffenheim.

THT Verdict: The deal is as good as done. The Iceland international, who performed admirably well for Swansea last season, appeared to be on the verge of signing for Liverpool, after holding prolonged talks with the Reds. However, Spurs have moved swiftly to sign the midfielder, ahead of Rodgers. With Luka Modric yet again expected to be embroiled in a transfer tug of war, the signing of 22-year old midfielder is a good move for the North London side. The reason behind Sigurdsson’s choice is hard to understand, if at all it’s his choice, especially as in Merseyside he would have got a chance to work for a manager, under whom he’d excelled last season.
