With a trip to the West of the capital, Arsenal would fancy themselves to record an 8th straight win. With eight more games to go in the league, the difference in form and priorities couldn’t be more different for the two clubs. Arsenal are in a rich vein of form having won 7 league games on the trot, which includes wins in difficult away games at Sunderland and Liverpool.
QPR on their part did get a dramatic win over Liverpool ten days back, but followed that epic win with a defeat at the Stadium of Light. A match that also saw Djibril Cisse get sent off for the second time in his brief stint at Loftus Road, and threw QPR closer to the Championship. With matches against six of the top ten remaining, Mark Hughes’s men have to show resolve and consistency in their run-in. Discipline has been an issue, and Hughes would look to address the same.
The Gunners have different priorities altogether. With Spurs playing Swansea at the Lane, Arsenal will have to put in a positive performance in order to strengthen their grip on third place. With crucial games against Chelsea and Manchester City at the Grove over the coming weeks, momentum could be a huge factor in deciding Arsenal’s destiny. Defeats at San Siro and in the FA Cup at Sunderland seem to have galvanised the club and the players.

While Mark Hughes would have liked to field the Cisse-Zamora partnership againstAi?? Arsenal, the former is now suspended for four games for a rash tackle on Frazier Campbell. That gives DJ Campbell a chance to start, having started only three games since his arrival, but reports suggest DJ Campbell is unlikely to be in the starting line-up due to an injury.
Manchester United loanee Federico Macheda has returned to United following an ankle problem. Faurlin and Dyer remain on the absentee list, while club captain Joey Barton would be looking to return to the starting line-up after being dropped against Sunderland. A resurgence in his form might be exactly what QPR have been lacking of late.
QPR defenders Fitz Hall and Clint Hill are both doubts for this match due to injury, Which will see Nedum Onuoha start beside Anton Ferdinand. Traore, the former Gunners left back is also injured, which will mean Taiwo will start as the full-back.
The influence of Mackie cannot be overlooked and despite a horrible start to his QPR career, Diakite has settled down well and would be looking to have a strong performance on Saturday. Hughes will have to make a decision on whether to start with two players out-wide or a more conventional 4-4-2. The latter might see them out-run in midfield and one may expect Hughes to start with Wright Phillips, with Campbell on the bench.

As the injury list begins to shrink, Arsene Wenger seems to have found just the perfect balance in his team. Apart from the long-term absentees Jack Wilshere and Per Mertesacker, Arsene Wenger, finally has a full roster to choose his team from.
Laurent Koscielny will be back in the line-up after missing out against Villa. With Tomas Rosicky in spectacular form, Song dishing out defence opening passes and Arteta controlling the tempo of the game, the midfield will remain unchanged. Theo Walcott has come to life since his match-winning strikes against Tottenham, and would give Taiwo some problems. Chamberlain should start on the opposite wing and the two might cause havoc, if the QPR defence is not attentive enough.
The Arsenal defence on the other hand has settled, and the back 5 of Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny and Gibbs have played 8 games together, winning seven and drawing one. Arsene might opt for a little bit of rotation with Santos, Ramsey, Gervinho and even Diaby waiting patiently in the wings. A strong starting XI backed up by a strong bench is expected to guarantee the three points.

The Cameroonian has become one of the most scintillating yet silent performers in the league. His assist for Theo’s goal against Villa was exceptional to say the least – Not that it has happened for the first time in the season; Song has set up two of van Persie’s goals of the season against the two Merseyside clubs. Some of his passing has been Scholes-esque, as Jamie Redknapp mentioned. Doesn’t get much credit for his creativity though, so we decided to make him our man to watch out for.

With QPR getting desperate for wins and Arsenal riding on a crest of imperious form, there is only one way this match is going to proceed. Arsenal managed to eek out a win in the reverse fixture in November courtesy an RVP goal, in what was a cagey affair. This match is expected to be a lot more open, with more goals. Robin should add to his tally pushing the Hoops ever closer to relegation, and making Arsenal favourites for third spot.
