34th edition of the prestigious Federation Cup kicks off on 19th September in Jamshedpur with I-League Champions Dempo taking on Pailan Arrows in a Group A fixture. Federation Cup, popularly known as the Fed Cup, is a prestigious tournament which will see all the I-League teams participate with the winners to get a spot in the prestigious AFC Cup. The round-robin nature of the tournament means that all the teams have a good chance to progress to the next round. Salgaocar emerged as the winners in the previous edition by defeating East Bengal in the final.
The Fed Cup officially signals the start of the domestic season in India.
