A club from Brazil may take part in this year’s IFA Shield. The Shield is famous for participation of foreign teams and clubs like Shakhtar Donetsk and Ararat Yerevan have participated in past.

Kalna Deepali Sangha, Dasnagar Yuva Sangha, Shyamnagar Tarun Sangha and Shantipur RI Reserve Club have reached semi-final of Bengal Football League. This league comprises of non-Kolkata clubs from West Bengal.

India will participate in U14 AFC Football Festival to be held in Kathmandu this year. India U14 team performed brilliantly in last year’s edition held in Tehran. Current IFA Academy coach Goutam Ghosh was offered to take up the post of coaching and selecting a U14 team but he has declined to take it up because of commitments with his current job.

Premier League Soccer has run into a fresh set of trouble thanks to the attitude of West Bengal State Sports Department. State Sports Minister has asked PLS organizers to submit written application in order to get grounds accross Bengal to organize the matches. The minister has also demand that PLS organizers cough up Rs. 5 lakhs for helping troubled former footballers. As it stands now, the start of PLS can be delayed by this new development.

The Delhi Camp for selecting youngsters for AIFF-FIFA Academy was concluded yesterday and the focus now shifts towards Kolkata. Scott O’Donell and Rob Bann will be present in Mohun Bagan Ground on 18th and 19th February in order to select the U14 boys who will be trained in the Kolkata branch of AIFF-FIFA Academy.

Mohun Bagan is planning to install bucket chairs in the member sections of their gallery. Bucket chairs will be constructed in Gostha Pal and Sailen Manna blocks.

Ex-Dempo goalkeeper Caetano Fernandes passed away on Thursday, He was 57 years old. Fernandes was part of the 1983 Goa team that won Santosh Trophy and played for Vasco and Dempo in his career.
