East Bengal vs Dempo SC

3rd November, Salt-Lake Stadium, Kolkata

It is indeed the match of the I-League so far as Fed Cup winners East Bengal square offAi??against I-League defending championship Dempo in a match which mightAi??have long-standing ramifications in the league.

Penn Orji holds the key for East Bengal

Trevor Morgan and East Bengal go into this match with lot of confidence after having edged Dempo earlier on in the season. Young Gurpreet Singh Sandhu would start in goal after Abhijit Mondal picked up a knock in the match against Pune FC. Uga Okpara and Arnab Mondal will lead theAi??defense along withAi??Harmanjot Khabra and Naoba Singh and the back-four will have to be on their toes to contain the Dempo trio of Koko, Sueoka and Ricketts. Penn Orji and Mehtab Hossain have been the star performers for the Kolkata giants so far and the way Penn tore apart the Pune FC defense in the last round sounds positive for East Bengal. Chidi Edeh and Manandeep Singh have looked sharp upfront but have lacked the finishing touch. Trevor Morgan would be hoping for an improved performance from the young Indian striker.

Koko Sakibo – Leading Dempo Attack

Dempo eked out a 2-1 win against United Sikkim after Sueoka converted a controversial penalty in the 93rd minute and would look to maintain their 100% win recordAi??against East-Bengal.Ai??Subhasish Roychowdhury would start in goal once again along with Mahesh Gawli and Creson Antao in the heart of defense.Ai??Valeriano Rebello and Debabrata Roy would be the two full-backs. Dempo defense looked exposed against United Sikkim and will have to be alert to stop the East Bengal midfield. Clifford Miranda and Anthony Pereira would start on the left and right flanks respectively. The Dempo foreign trio of Koko Sakibo, Ryuji Sueoka and Rohan Ricketts have looked in fine touch and would once again hold the key to Dempo’s fortune in this tough away fixture.

Players To Watch Out For: Penn Orji (East Bengal), Ryuji Sueoka (Dempo)

Verdict: East Bengal 1 -1 Dempo

Mumbai FC vs Salgaocar FC

3rd November, Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune

This is a contest between two sides who have struggled to find a footing in the I-League. Mumbai FC have shown glimpses of their talent but have lacked consistency, losing 3-1 to Churchill in their last match. Afghan defender Haroon Fakruddin AmiriAi??and Dempo recruit William Calcao will lead the defense along with young Justin Stephen.Ai??Nicholas Rodrigues,Ai??Subhash Chakraborty,Ai??Darren Caldeira and Dane Periera will lead the midfield, while the attack will feature Yusuf Yakabu and N.D. Opara. Mumbai FC have failed to garner even a single point so far and Khalid Jamil men will look to set this straight in this match.

Salgaocar FC comes into this match after been held by Arrows to a goal-less draw despite having enjoyed the lion-share of possession. It is a period ofAi??transitionAi??for the team after the resignation of Karim Bencherifa. Under the guidance ofAi??interim coachAi??Peter Valles,Ai??Ai??Angel Guirado and Sean Rooney will start upfront as Salgaocar would look to score goals. The midfield trio ofAi??Francis Fernandez, Rocus Lamare and Anthony Barbosa are quite capable of troubling a weak Mumbai FC defense. Ai??Salgaocar’s defense, which has been their hallmark in the previous seasons, has shown signs of buckling down under pressureAi??Ai??and the fans would hope thatAi??Nicolau Colaco, Colin Abranches, Rahul Kumar and skipperAi??Luciano Sabrosa can keep Yakabu and Opara under check

Players To Watch Out For:Ai??Yusuf YakabuAi??(Mumbai FC), Francis FernandezAi??(Salgaocar FC)

Verdict:Ai??Mumbai FC 1 -3 Salgaocar FC

ONGC FC vs Air-India FC

4th November, Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi

ONGC secured their first point in I-League with an impressive draw against mega rich Prayag United. Losses against Pune FC and Churchill Brothers were put to bed with an inspiring draw against the IndianAi??Galacticos in-front of an eager Delhi crowd for the first time. It required a last-minute goal from diminutive striker Ranti Martins to snatch two points away from the Delhi based institutional side. ONGC will start as the favourites when they are facing relegation candidates Air India at the Ambedkar Stadium.

ONGC looked set for a win when a brilliant free-kick from Eric Brown gave them an unexpected lead in their last outings. Even though Prayag pulled one back in injury time, ONGC could have snatched a late win as their hero Katsumi Yusaai??i??s tap in hit the bar after beating custodian Subrata Pal. Katsumi Yusa is the one pulling the strings for the institutional side and he is expected to lead the battle for the home team in this relegation dog fight.

Mumbai based Airmen have faced defeat three timesAi??already this season. After suffering a mauling at the hands of 10-menAi??Prayag United in their opening fixture, they went down against PailanAi??Arrows in their second fixture as well. There was no change inAi??their fortunes when they locked horns with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan.Ai??Currently the aircraftsman finds themselves in the bottom of the table and need to make some markedAi??improvements if they have to secure an I-League spot for next year.Ai??Godfrey Pereira has realized the importance of a stable defence andAi??their performance was better against Mohun Bagan. It was a wickedAi??deflection which changed the destiny for the Airmen in an much improved display.Ai??Micky Fernandes and co. need to get their act together against fellowAi??relegation candidates ONGC. The relegation dog fightAi??is heating up at the start of the season itself and we can expect anAi??action packed match at the Ambedkar stadium

Players To Watch Out For:Ai??Katsumi Yusa (ONGC), Micky Fernandes (Air India)

Verdict:Ai??ONGC 2-1 Air India

United Sikkim FC vs Pailan Arrows

4th November, Paljor Stadium, Gangtok

Picturesque Paljor Stadium – Home of United Sikkim

After playing against the big boys of Indian football in the first 3 rounds, United Sikkim will be breathing a sigh of relief as theyAi??weren’tAi??uprooted in Indiaai??i??s top flight football. After upsetting former champions Salgaocar in the opening round, United Sikkim fought brilliantly against East Bengal and Dempo before losing out by the minimum margin. Many pundits predicted relegation for United Sikkim before the start of the season. Even-though they were blessed with four home games on the trot, the first three were the toughest games anyone could have imagined. United Sikkim is awaiting the Indian Colts with three points in as many matches. ai???Snow Lionsai??i?? were unlucky in their last outing against defending Champions Dempo, as they were the better side and played the better game as well, still they lost the match in controversial circumstances. Linekar Machado and co will be hoping for a bit of luck during their game against Arrows, as the two dark horses in 12-13 season gear up for each other.

Pailan Arrows showed true grit and determination in grinding out a result against former champions Salgaocar SC with a brilliant defensive display in Goa. Pailan Arrows are finding themselves in topAi??half of the table with two wins against the Mumbai outfits and a hard-earned draw in Goa. They will be fancying more points when they visit North East to face the new boys in Indian football. Pailan ArrowsAi??under Arthur Papas has improved a lot, and their tactical flexibility makes them a difficult nut to crack. Papas prepares his boys based on the opposition and he is someone who is not afraid of making changes even to a winning combination. Depak Devrani and Soram Porei Angamba were the heroes against Salgaocar and as a result they got their first clean sheet in this campaign. Holicharan Narzary will be hoping to add more goals under his tally and young sensation Allwyn George would like to make his mark as well. This fourth round game pits these two underrated teams against each other, but we can expect an intriguing battle with brilliant football on display.

Players To Watch Out For:Ai??Linekar Machado (United Sikkim), DeepakAi??Devrani (Pailan Arrows)

Verdict: United Sikkim 3 -2 Pailan Arrows

Mohun Bagan A.C vs Sporting Club de Goa

4th November, Salt-Lake Stadium, Kolkata

The Mariners are currently placed at a lowly tenth place after the recently concluded third round of matches. Finally the former champions opened their account in terms of points on the table as the Mridul Banerjee mentored side garnered their first win of the season against Air India at the Balewadi Stadium. Nigerian ace Odafa, who donned the scoring boots for the Kolkata side in Pune, would be once again marshalling the strike force as Mohun Bagan prepare to lock horns against Sporting Club at the Yuba Bharati KriranganAi?? Aussie recruit Tolgay Ozbey is expected to return for this match after nursing a niggle to add teeth to the attack. His fitness would be put to test against Kalighat Club in a Kolkata Premier League tie before this encounter. Manish Maithani, Jewel Raja and Rakesh Masih will form the core of the midfield with Nabi playing on the left flank. Shilton Dai??i??Silva is expected to start under the bar for the Sabuj-Maroon brigade come Sunday. Mridul would be hoping that his side bags some much-needed points and crawl their way back up to the top.

The Goan outfit claimed their first win of the league in the last round against in-form Shillong Lajong in their own backyard. Boosted by the overwhelming result, Ekendra Singhai??i??s side would be raring to go as they prepare to take on Mohun Bagan in Kolkata. Sporting are currently placed at the eighth position in the league, two places above their hosts on Sunday. Any points hoarded from this game would be welcomed by the Goan side away from home. Ekendra is expected to deploy the same line up on Sunday with Victorino and Rowlinson leading the attack. Playmaker Ogba Kalu, who scored the opener in Shillong would start from behind the strikers with Adil Khan being the man to watch out for.

Players To Watch Out For: Odafa Okolie (Mohun Bagan AC), Adil Khan (SC de Goa)

Verdict: Mohun Bagan 3-1 SC de Goa

Pune FC vs Churchill Brothers

4th November,Ai??Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune

The Red Lizards slipped down to sixth position in the league as Derrick Pereiraai??i??s side succumbed to their first defeat of the season against East Bengal. Pune FC look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Churchill Brothers to Balewadi Sports Complex in the fourth round. The Pune based side would be looking to add to the good performance from last round, in order to bag some points at home this time. As poor finishing in front of the goal cost the Maharashtra side at least a point at YBK, Derrick Pereira would be looking to witness some improvement from his strikers upfront. James Moga, Jeje Lalpekhlua and Douhou would once again be expected to start for the Red Lizards with Arata orchestrating the moves from the middle. Chika Wali and Anas would be holding the defense line at the back with Shahinlal in the goal. Pune FC, which has won both the home matches so far, would be looking to string another win.

Beto will be the key for Churchill again !!

The Goan Red Machineare placed just one place above their hosts on Sunday as the Goan side comfortably cleared the Mumbai FC challenge in the last round. In form Beto and Lebanese recruit Moghrabi were on target for the Salcette based club. Churchill Brothers would be looking to continue with their winning spree and take this to three matches in a row as they prepare to take on Pune FC away from home. It has always been a good hunting ground for the Goans as the same fixture last season fetched them all three comfortable points. Beto would be our man to watch out for this match. Churchill Brothers are expected to go in with the dup of Akram and Beto upfront. Former Salgaocar man Tomba Singh would be slotted behind them and Lenny would be given the job to hold the play. Veteran Steven Dias would tread the right flank in sync with Denzil. Sandip Nandy would be starting as the Custodian. All three points here could see Churchill owned side grab a podium finish by the end of this round.

Players To Watch Out For: Izumi Arata (Pune FC), Akram Moghrabi (Churchill Brothers SC)

Verdict: Pune FC 1-1 Churchill Brothers SC

Shillong Lajong FC vs Prayag United SC

4th November, Nehru Stadium, Shillong

Shillong Lajong is slotted at the seventh place in the table. The Meghalaya based side have lost their path after a scintillating performance on the opening day of the season which saw them clinch all three points against much fancied Mohun Bagan side. Ai??Since then, Desmond Bulpinai??i??s side has only managed to garner a single point from their last two games. Coming off a defeat in the last round, that too at home, the Reds would be looking to make amends as they lock horns against in form Prayag United side. This is the fourth consecutive game for the Shillong side at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillog, and Desmond would be hoping to make the most of these home games. Firday, who opened the scoring in the last match, will be partnering India international Sushil Singh upfront. Ralte would be standing tall in the goal with Pasha and Fanai in front of him. The usual suspects in Rennedy Singh, Ebi Sukore and Ramlalluaha would be expected to start from the middle.

Prayag United are just one place away from what the team administration had aspired for this summer. The Kolkata based side would be looking to carry forward their blip free campaign as they make a difficult trip to Meghalaya in the fourth round. Nigerian ace striker Ranti Martins scored his 150th goal in the dying minutes at the Ambedkar Stadium in the last round to clinch a point and avoid the blushes for his side. Sonjay Sen would be hoping that his sidesai??i?? territorial domination reflects in the form of goals on the scoreboard. Kiwi Kayne Vincent would be expected to share the striking responsibility with Ranti upfront with Lester and Carlos in the middle. Gouramangi Singh and Bello would be leading the defence at the back. Prayag united would be hoping to clinch maximum points in Shillong in order to stay hot on leader Dempoai??i??s heels.

Players To Watch Out For: Ebi Sukore (Shillong Lajong FC) , Ranti Martins (Prayag United SC)

Verdict: Shillong Lajong 1-0 Prayag United
