Odafa Okolie returned to haunt his former club in their own den as the prolific Nigerian sharpshooter scored a sensational hat-trick to knock the stuffingai??i??s out of Churchill Brothers and hand them their third loss of the season. The game started on an electrifying note after Lalrindika Ralte found the top corner after just five minutes. He took advantage of the acres of space that was offered to him in the Bagan penalty area and found the top corner with a well placed shot past Sangram Mukherjee. But after 18 minutes, Odafa Okolie found the equalizer after being allowed time and space inside the box to control a lob from Syed Rahim Nabi. Bagan were unlucky not to get the lead before half time as Jwel Raja had rattled the post and Odafa hit the cross bar in first 45 minutes which was completely dominated by the visiting side. It stayed 1-1 at half time.
The second half started on a dull note with neither team pressing hard for the lead. Even the introduction of Jose Barreto didnai??i??t liven up the game. It was left to Odafa again in the 74th minute to giveAi??Bagan the lead when his grounder went past Arindam Bhattacharya -Ai??who definitely should have done better. The goal seemed to rattle Churchill and four minutes later they conceded a penalty after Barreto made a brilliant run inside the box and was brought down – although replays showed it was a dubious penalty to give. Odafa made no mistake to complete his hat trick after sending Arindam the wrong way. Just when it seemed the Mariners had the game in the bag, substitute Henry Antchouet came up with a solo effort to reduce the deficit and set up a frantic last ten minutes for Churchill. Two minutes before the final whistle Opara missed a sitter after failing to tap in the ball into the net after Henry had sent a measured cross to him. There was usual commotion after the game with the angry crowd throwing bottles on the referees. People even gathered outside the dressing room and a large posse of policemen was required to disperse the angry crowd.
Dempo bounced back from their shock loss to Prayag United after a clinical first half performance which saw them race to a 2-0 lead inside the first thirty minutes through goals from Clifford Miranda and Ranti Martins. The highlight of the match was however a superb Rooney like bicycle kick from Vineeth C.K. that gave Subhasish Roy Chowdhury no chance. Though Dempo produced an insipid second half display, they held on for the three points to maintain their top position in this years League.

East Bengal and Pune FC played out an entertaining goalless draw at the Baleqwadi Sports Complex that was devoid of goals but high on entertainment. Pune FC should have raced to a 3-0 lead inside the first half but were saved by some superb keeping from the young Gurpreet Singh Sandhu who made some stunning saves. The second half failed to live up to expectations, save for stoppage time when a rampaging Tolgay Ozbay was denied the match winner after a superb parry from Abhra Mondal who, incidentally,Ai??is on loan from East Bengal. Referee Shaji Kurien made a blunder in the second half when he failed to point to the spot after Tolgay Ozbey was brought down inside the area by an on-rushing Abhra Mondal.
Sporting Clube de Goa got back to winning ways after a 3-2 win over Pailan Arrows allowed them to move further away from the relegation zone. Young Victorino Fernandes gave Flaming Oranje the lead in the 14th minute. But Pailan took the lead after double strikes from Sabeeth and Bijendra Rai gave the India U-23 side a glimpse of hope for causing an upset. Rowlin BorgesAi??found the back of the netAi??for Sporting on the stroke of half time to put Sporting on level terms going into the break. Late in the 85th minute, Ogba Kalu scored the winner to break Arrows hearts and give Sporting all three points.
Defending Champions Salgaocar continued their surge up the ladder after pipping Mumbai FC 1-0 at Pune. Japanese midfielderAi??Ryuiji Sueoka scored the winner in the 82nd minute to help Salgaocar move to seventh in the table. There were three goalless matches for the first time in this years League with Prayag United-HAL and Air India-Shillong Lajong games also ending up with a 0-0 scoreline.
