I-League Round-15 will kick-off with this game featuring two Kolkata-based teams with contrasting fortunes. While East Bengal are on a mission to secure pole position with 27 points in their kitty ai??i?? just 3 behind pace-setters Dempo SC, Pailan Arrows find themselves slotted at the 13th spot with a meager tally of 7 points. Trevor James Morganai??i??s Red-&-Gold outfit will look to notch up their 9th victory of the campaign when they lock horns against Sukhwinder Singh-mentored Arrows side, who are yet to register a single win in this edition of I-League.
East Bengal team is going through a rough patch of form of-late and the Red-&-Golds had to be content with just a single point from their Round-14 outing against Pune FC away from home. Mehtab Hossain-led Laal-Holud brigade produced an insipid display at Balewadi, where their famed attacking line-up failed to create adequate goal scoring opportunities. The signing of Edmilson Marques from Southern Samity, who had previously plied his trade for Red-&-Golds way back in 2007-08 season, will surely boost their armor, but questions over his match fitness still remains a concern for East Bengal think-tank and it is highly unlikely that he will be featuring in this tie. Nirmal Chhetri and Soumik Dey both will have to sit out because of injury and suspension respectively. Robin Singh is still doubtful and if he could not get match-fit by the time of kick-off, Morgan may once-again deploy a 4-5-1 formation with Tolgay Ozbey as the lone striker. One positive for East Bengal going in to this clash would be the availability of right back Naoba Singh, who missed Pune FC encounter due to an injury. Robert Lalthalamuana is expected to replace Soumik at the left back.

Pailan Arrows displayed one of their best performances of the current season against Sporting Clube de Goa in last round, but could not avoid another defeat as a late goal by Ogba Kalu Nanna sealed the fate of the match in Flaming Oranjeai??i??s favor. However their morale will be boosted by the way they fought-back against a superior side. Bijender Rai produced a stunning goal and C.S. Sabeeth scored another for the young India U-23 side and they will be looking forward to carry on their scoring boots against the mighty East Bengal outfit as well. Recruiting teams from various clubs across the country are having a close eye on Arrowsai??i?? young goalie Naveen Kumar, who has performed admirably well thus far, and he can expect to witness a lot of goalmouth activities when the youngsters take on the mighty Red-&-Gold brigade at Yuvabharati Krirangan next Tuesday. Fortunately, Pailan Arrows do not have to worry about any injury issues and Sukhwinder Singh is expected to deploy an unchanged line-up which featured against Sporting Clube de Goa in Round-14.
