GK ai??i?? Adam Federici (Reading)
Once again, Reading keeper Adam Federici was at his best as The Royals triumphed 1-0 over Burnley. The Australian stopper superbly marshalled his defence to a fourth successive clean sheet. Federici was mostly tested from range as Burnley struggled to make clear cut chances, but when Claretsai??i?? striker Charlie Austin did break clear in the box, Federici brilliantly snuffed out the danger to save with his right foot.
RB ai??i?? Kieran Trippier (Burnley)
Despite ending up on the losing side at Reading, Burnley right-back Kieran Tripper produced a fine performance. The full-back, who made his move from Manchester City permanent during the January transfer window, came to the away sideai??i??s rescue when he was on head to head Jimmy Kebeai??i??s effort off the goal-line. He was also involved in most of Burnleyai??i??s attacking play, providing the corner from which striker Jay Rodriguez headed against the Reading post.
CB ai??i?? Jimmy McNulty (Barnsley)
Barnsley returned to winning ways with a 2-0 success over 10-men crisis-club Portsmouth. Though goalscorers Jim Oai??i??Brien and Matt Done will grab the headlines, the Tykes back four was brilliantly led by centre-half Jimmy McNulty. The Liverpool-born defender helped keep the Pompey strikeforce quiet, a job which was made all the easier when the away sideai??i??s striker Dave Kitson was red-carded for a bad challenge. With the man advantage, Keith Hillai??i??s men went on to record a much-needed victory.
CB ai??i?? Aaron Martin (Southampton)
Southampton returned to the top of the table by beating Derby County 4-0, with defender Aaron Martin equally impressive at both ends of the pitch. Martin helped keep a clean sheet, as well as scoring from six yards to put the Saints two up.
LB ai??i?? Danny Fox (Southampton)
The star performer for Southampton though, was left-back Danny Fox, who weighed in with a hat-trick of assists. The Saints took the lead when Foxai??i??s corner kick was bundled in by Jos Hooiveld. Another brilliant Fox corner saw Aaron Martin double the lead, then the left-back skipped down the wing to cross for Adam Lallana to make it three. Japanese striker Tadanari Lee added number four.
RM ai??i?? Lee Martin (Ipswich Town)
Former Manchester United youngster was on target twice as Ipswich Town recorded an impressive 3-0 win at home to promotion chasing Cardiff City. Martin gave Town the lead on 21 minutes when he fired in a Daryl Murphy cross. He nearly doubled his account a minute later when he fired over, but he did find the net again on 73 minutes when he scored from close range.
CM ai??i??Adam Clayton (Leeds United)
Leeds United gave new boss Neil Warnock the best possible start to life at Elland Road as they came back from 2-0 down against Doncaster Rovers to win 3-2. Midfielder Adam Clayton was key to the comeback, as he equalised on 80 minutes when he brilliantly converted a Robert Snodgrass cross. Argentine striker Luciano Becchio completed the comeback in the 9th minute of stoppage time to give Leeds a vital 3 points.
LM ai??i?? Gareth McCleary (Nottingham Forest)
In the dayai??i??s big relegation battle, Nottingham Forest finally hit form to beat Coventry City 2-0. After scoring in the 1-1 draw against Watford the previous week, winger Gareth McCleary was once again on the scoresheet. With the scores level with 16 minutes to go, McCleary picked the ball up midway inside his own half. He turned and ran at the Sky Blues defence, cut inside with a dummy and then casually stroked the ball home from 18 yards to set Forest on their way. A vital three points were confirmed when Robbie Findley doubled the lead with 4 minutes remaining.
ST ai??i?? Lee Tomlin (Peterborough United)
Peterborough United finally hit the goal trail again as they beat struggling Bristol City 3-0 at London Road. Striker Lee Tomlin was the star for Posh as he netted a double. Recalled to the starting line-up, Tomlin took only 7 minutes to make his mark when he nodded in from close range. Posh extended their lead through David Ball midway through the second-half, before Tomlin stroked the ball home on 84 minutes to put the gloss on a fine performance.
ST ai??i?? Chris Martin (Crystal Palace)
Chris Martin hit a double as Crystal Palace thumped Watford 4-0. After talented teenager Wilfried Zaha had given the hosts the lead on 22 minutes, former Norwich City striker Martin doubled the lead when he headed home before the break. On 50 minutes, Martin was once again in the right place at the right time as he finished from six yards out. Kagisho Dikgacoi rounded off the scoring for Dougie Freedmanai??i??s men.
ST ai??i?? Jason Roberts (Reading)
Veteran striker Jason Roberts was the matchwinner as Reading beat Burnley 1-0 in the match between the play-off contenders. After signing on-loan from Blackburn Rovers, Roberts had scored two goals in three games. He made it three in four in Fridayai??i??s clash when he converted a Jobi McAnuff cross to give the Royals a fourth successive win and move them into third place.
