The season started with a disappointing loss to the Champions after the game against Merseysiders were washed out in the riots. Even though Spurs fought tooth and neck till the hour mark the end result was a defeat with disappointing 3-goal margin. That game mainly showed the lack of steel in central midfield. When the other team from Manchester visited Lane, Spurs thought they will return the favors for their Champions League spot.
But the start of season went from bad to worse as Lillywhites conceded 5 goals at the lane much to the disappointment of fans and the little Croatian was making noise to move out throughout the transfer window and everyone was thinking about a disastrous season.

The turnaround started when Spurs visited Molineux, it was actually a turnaround for both the teams as Wolves lost their momentum whereas Spurs started their season from there. Victories against Wolves, Liverpool, Wigan, Arsenal, Blackburn and a draw against the high-flying Toons have put North Londoners in a much stronger position. 16 points out of 18 can be rated as a title winning form, and this turnaround has been amazing. Spurs can look forward to those new factors that contributed mainly to this turnaround.
Safe hands of Brad Friedel have given more consistency and confidence to the defense. Even though Gomez can make more top notch saves than the old man, his arrival has been a confidence booster for the weak defense. Defense has improved by leaps and bounds this season and he is one of the two players who made that additional impact. The emergence of Kyle Walker has been a huge boost, as he is a lad who can attack as well as defend – the right man for the occasion. He has increased the threat to the opposition and also brought the stability the team needs.
Midfield has been boosted by the arrival of charismatic Scott Parker and he is the leader Spurs needed on the field. He brings a bit of everything on the field, much needed steel, grit and determination cleverly coupled with the guile and runs. Most of us might have thought that emergence of Sandro from last season will solve all the problems, but there was something missing and Spurs found the missing piece of jigsaw in Parker. Another positive has been the emergence of young Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll. Both of them have impressed in whatever opportunities they have got and points towards a fantastic feature at the Lane.
Spurs were looking for a striker for some time now. They wanted a player who can lead the line on his own, hold the ball, make some darting runs, win and convert those crosses produced by the wingers and most importantly a player whom the team can rely on when needed. In Adebayor, Spurs got the perfect player they wanted, the only negatives being the loan deal and his attitude.
Even though he played for Spursai??i?? eternal rivals and he scored a number of goals against Spursai??i?? in the past, he is slowly becoming a fanai??i??s favorite with his performances this season. Although it looks as if the striking department could use some extra legs, but Spurs have two good youngsters in the academy in the form of Harry Kane and Souleymane Coulibaly. They have already seen glimpses of Kaneai??i??s performance in the Europa League and it is a perceived notion that Redknapp got it right as it is the apt time to groom him otherwise he might have squandered him playing for reserves.

Harry has effectively utilized Europa League as a learning curve for the youngsters. So far he has been effective in mixing the squad players and youngsters without losing the balance. This has given the main players a much-needed rest and for fringe players it helped them to stake claims for a spot in the squad. The major benefit from this will be the experience youngsters got from traveling across Europe and it will provide a smooth transition to the first team as well. Youngsters like Livermore, Carroll, Kane, Rose, Townsend, Federics, Nicholson, Parret etc has got their sniff of top flight football and it has come out far better than expected and without losing the momentum as well.
Livermore is looking like a player who is going to make a regular spot in first team football for years to come. Carroll and Kane are the other players who impressed the think-tank with their performances across Europe. Rose has already made his mark towards the end of last of season in addition to the wonder-goal against Gunners and will be another prominent player in the future.
Overall from Spurs perspective they have the right mix now. A bunch of professionals to fight it out for top spots in the League and this batch is looking quite capable of doing that job. At the same time another bunch of youngsters are arising from Spurs looking to make their mark in the world of football. Glory nights are waiting for the Lillywhite supporters as the present and future is looking bright at White Hart Lane.
