THT Transfer Watch: News And Verdicts – July 28, 2011

Villareal Eye Canales

Villarreal have earmarked Real Madrid starlet Sergio Canales as the perfect candidate to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, Marca reports.

THT Verdict: Likely.Villarreal is a top team in La Liga and Canales knows that he is down the pecking order at the Spanish capital. With Ozil is ominous form and Kaka making his presence felt, it would be hard for Canales to make it to the first team. Villarreal have sold Cazorla and this offers opportunities for Canales to gain first team football. Real Madrid might not sell him without any conditions considering the talent the lad has and hence could either loan him out or sell him with a buy back clause, just like what Barcelona did to Bojan.

Juventus accept PSG’s Sissoko bid.

According to Sky Sports Italia Juventus has accepted a 8 m E offer for Momo Sissoko. Sissoko joined Juventus from Liverpool for a fee of 11 m E in 2008.

THT Verdict: Good riddance. Sissoko was struggling with his form and fitness for last two seasons. With the arrivals of Pazienza and Arturo Vidal it was likely that he would be leaving Turin this summer. Given his recent form Juventus will not be getting a better offer for the Malian.

Chelsea Up Lukaku Bid

According to Dailymail, the Blues have made an increased offer for Romelu Lukaku as Villa-Boas looks to bolster his attacking options. The increased bid is said to be 20 million pounds.

THT Verdict: Two of Chelsea’s forwards, Drogba and Anelka, are 33 and 32 years old respectively, and will eventually leave, if not this year then surely next. One year under Drogba’s tutelage will not just be a dream-come-true for Lukaku but will also make him ready to play in the Premiership, and Chelsea will have a versatile enough pool of strikers to chose from, an year down the line – Torres, Lukaku, Sturridge, and Kalou.
