THT Transfer Watch: News And Verdicts – August 21, 2011

Wenger Looks To Bring Kaka To The Emirates

THT Verdict: Buy – Unlikely. Extraordinary salary and transfer fees means Arsene ‘Youth Developer’ Wenger won’t be considering such an option this summer. Loan – Possible. A loan move where Madrid is ready to shell out some part of his salary, is quite possible. Bringing a player of Kaka’s quality will certainly lift up the morale of players and fans, exactly what is needed right now at Arsenal.

Red Devils In for Nasri?

Seeing the delay in the Nasri-to-Manchester City deal, the word out there is that local rivals Manchester United might have joined the race to sign the Frenchman.

THT Verdict: Sir Alex has been a known admirer of the Frenchman, but had earlier conceded defeat to noisy neighbours Man City in the pursuit of his signature. But the move has not happened till date despite Mancini showing public interest in the midfielder. With Nasri playing the game yesterday, several doubts have been casted about the move. If that is the case, Ferguson would be more than glad to sign the midfielder. However, the manager has announced that he has done his spending this summer, but we all know the wily old Scot, don’t we.

City Agree Weiss Sale

It is reported that Manchester City have struck a deal with Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev for the sale of winger Vladimir Weiss. A sum of 3 million pounds is said to have sufficed.

THT Verdict: It looks like City are now focused on clearing the deadwood at their club. With only Samir Nasri left to be brought in, City would want to reduce their wage bill. Weiss never really got going at Eastlands and it is best if he continues his career elsewhere.

Spurs & Liverpool Track Rodallega

According to the Metro, Tottenham and Liverpool are in the running for the signature of Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega.

THT Verdict: Rodallega to Liverpool does seem unlikely but on second thoughts, it does make sense if it has any veracity to it. Rodallega has adapted well to the Premier League and has been a lynchpin to Wigan’s Premier League campaigns so far. However, his importance to the squad would be the stumbling block if Liverpool are to strike a deal.
