Manuel Gomesai??i?? side leapfrogged arch rivals Dempo to claim the summit of the table as the Round 10 proceedings came to an end. Dempoai??i??s shock loss at home to the Pilots catapulted the Durand cup champions to the top. Churchill Brothers now have garnered 23 points out of ten scheduled games and they welcome Pune FC to Fatorda for the eleventh round match.

The strike pairing of Nigerian ND Opara and Gabonese sensation Henri have certainly taken the league by storm, as both of them increased their tally of personal goals in the season by one and three respectively in a collective mauling of Shillong Lajong FC. The Goan Reds have now registered their fourth win in their last five games and would be looking to do the same against the side form Maharashtra. The same is expected to be deployed by the Portuguese as there seems to be no reason that the winning combination should be tweaked. Midfielder Jagpeet Singh is suspended for this match as he is serving a one match ban for back to back cautions.

Churchill Brothers expected line-up: Felix Dai??i??sousa(GK), Denzil, Gouramangi, Y.Raju, Ravanan, Steven, Lenny, Beto, Henry, N.D.Opara , Lalrindinka.

Derrick Pereiraai??i??s side occupy a decent seventh slot in the table after the round 10 match, which was a Maharashtra derby in which the side from Pune shared points with Mumbai FC. The Mumbaikars halted Pune FC’s splendid three match successive run of victories of their neighbours, as both the sides played out a goalless stalemate at Balewadi.

The Red Lizards now make a short trip to Goa for their eleventh match in the league against the red hot Churchill brothers. Pune side would be high on confidence as they look to deliver and consolidate their position in the league. With both sides hitting a good patch of form, this could be one of the tastiest encounters of this round at PJN, Fatorda.

Pune FC expected line up: Abhra Mondal(GK), Srikanth, Anas, Chika, Gurjinder, Paresh, Douhou, Karma, Lester, Jeje, Mandjou Keita

The men in purple from Kolkata finally tasted the bitter taste of defeat in the last round as the Kolkata sideai??i??s unassailable defense was unlocked by Chirag United Kerala in Trivandrum in the last round.Ai??Sonjoy Senai??i??s side are now parked in fifth position, and the club is now six points adrift of the top spot.

Prayag United now welcome a battered Shillong Lajong side to YBK in the eleventh round. Prayag would be hoping to bring their season again on track, as the Kolkata side has managed to hoard two victories in their last five games. Yusuf Yakubu would be our man to watch out for as the Ghanaian scored his seventh goal of the season in the 2-1 defeat and would be looking to increase his tally. Some of the key players are out suspended for this crucial round eleven match as Kiwi striker Kayne Vincent and midfield dynamo Jayanta are both ruled out of this tie due to consecutive cautions.

Prayag United expected line-up: Abhijit Mondal(GK), Chinta, Bello, Arnab, Sukhen, Subhas, Denson, Snehashish, Tulunga, Josimar, Yakubu.

The only side from north east had a round to forget as they were overwhelmed by a rampaging Churchill Brothers side by six goals. Just to add salt to their wounds, Pradyum Reddyai??i??s side couldnai??i??t breach the reds’ defence even once. As the young squad looks to put the result behind their backs, they travel to Kolkata to take on a somewhat rattled Prayag United side.

Shillong Lajongai??i??s number one custodian Soram Anganba is suspended for this match and is expected to be replaced by Lalthuammawia Ralte under the woodwork. The Brit mentored side currently occupy the tenth position and are four points clear of the drop zone. Pradyum Reddy has asked his strikers to step up and be counted as the teams in drop zone are slowly but surely reducing the gap.

Shillong Lajong expected line-up: L.Ralte(GK), Subhas, Lalhlimthara, Lyngdoh, Wailadmi, John Menyonger, Lalramluaha , Lalchhuanmawia, James, Cristopher, Tuboi.

TheHardTackleai??i??s Men To Watch Out For:

Armando Colacoai??i??s side succumbed to their third successive defeat of the season against The Pilots past weekend as the cat was thrown among the pigeons. Dempo midfield totally dominated most of the match but scoreboard never reflected the same. All the missed chances and the complacency came back to haunt the goan side as Manandeep Singh scored thirty minutes into the seond half to stun the crowd and Collin Abranches finished a wonderful victory which threw the title race wide open.

Dempo now face Sporting Club in another big Goan derby on Thursday. Dempo would be missing the services of Peter Carvalho in the middle of the park. Dempo slipped to second in the table as Churchill Brothers leapfrogged them on their way to the summit. A win for Churchill tomorrow would add to the pressure to get the better of flaming Oranje. These are the kind of matches that champions win and change the course of their season and Armando would be hoping that his side get the better of the mini slump soon.

Dempo expected line-up: Subhashish (GK), Mahesh Gawli, Creston,Roy, Samir Naik, Godwin, Climax, Clifford, Anthony, Ranty, Abranches.

The Flaming Oranje of Goa are tucked into eighth spot in the table after ten round of matches. Ekendra Singhai??i??s side has garnered a point after three successive defeats against Mohun Bagan in the last round. A late Ogba Kalu penalty restored parity as Sporting bought their free fall to a halt. Now, the new comers are up against a flustered Dempo side, a side that would bring the best to the table. Sporting Club will be without two very influential players in Mackroy Peixoto and Victorino Fernandes and without a doubt need to step on the gas to retrieve any points from this match.

SC Goa expected line-up: Gerradai??i??D Mello(GK), Dowson, Rojen, Prajot, Jovel, Kalu, Boboi, Adil, Moga, Joseph, SIngam Singh.

SALGAOCAR SC

Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata

Kick Off: 15:00 IST: Date 22nd December, 2011

Mohun Bagan takes on Salgaocar in the most awaited clash of the round at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday afternoon. After settling for a draw against Sporting over the weekend, Prasanta Banerjeeai??i??s men would be hoping to make a strong comeback against the struggling defending champions.

The hosts will miss the services of NP Pradeep and Debnath as both of them picked up their secondAi??caution against Sporting and now stand suspended from this fixture. The Maroon and Green would be hoping their star striker Odafe Onyeka gets back to his best as Salgaocar will be a tough team to beat without the likes of Bareto and Chhetri, whose availability is still in doubt. They will also depend on the lung-busting runs of their fullback Nabi, whose immaculate crosses have proven to be a nightmare for every teamai??i??s defence in the league till now.

Mohun Bagan expected line up: Mukherjee (GK), Nabi, Anwar, Zeleny, Surkumar Singh,Ai?? Masih, Mathani, Jewel Raja,Ai?? Souvik, Odafe, Jagtar Singh

Salgaocar emerged victorious against bottom placed HAL in round ten but it was a very hard fought victory against a team who are the favourites to be relegated come the end of the season. Placed at 9th spot with a goal difference of negative one, its hard to fathom that this Salgaocar is the same team who were getting past most the teams in the league last season with an ease.

Bencherifa has a tough away fixture on hands this time and he would expect his Nigerian striker- Chidi to rise up to the occasion.Ai?? They have the fifth best defensive record in the league till now but offensively the Goans have been poor. Tasting victory after four matches, SSC would love to build upon the momentum against Mohun Bagan. Moreover, a win over Bagan will send a message to the top teams in the league that Salgaocar can still pose a title threat to them, which makes this match even more important for SSC.

Expect a lip smacking encounter between these two sides on Thursday but considering the form Salgaocar is in,Ai??THT predicts Mohun Bagan to emerge victorious by a slender margin.

Salgaocar SC expected line-up:Ai?? Karanjit (GK), Tomba Singh,Colaco, Sabrosa, Khelemba Singh, Saha, Wadoo, Sueoka, Lamare, Ai??Chidi, Ahmed

The last match on Thursday will see in action two teams who are facing the imminent threat of relegation from the premier division of the I-League. After putting across a gutsy performance against Pune FC in the last round, Mumbai will walk into this game as the firm favourites.Ai?? These two sides have the worst defensive record in the league and between themselves they have conceded a whooping forty six goals.

After scoring four goals in their first round match against Air India, Khalid Jamilai??i??s side have managed to find the back of the net only six times in rest of the nine matches; a fact which must be troubling the head coach a lot. Of the twenty goals conceded by Mumbai, thirteen were scored by the Dempo SC, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan between round 2 and 4.

Since then their defence has undergone a lot of improvement and it was showcased in their match against Pune. With five goals, Sukore has been their top scorer so far this season and he would love to add couple more to his tally when he steps on the field against the side with the worst defensive record- HAL Bangalore. Sampath Kuttimani has been their star in the midfield andalong with Noel Wilson, the combo could prove to be too hot to handle for the struggling Bangalore side.

Mumbai FC expected line up:Ai?? Ishan Debnath (GK), Peter, Chandran, Amiri, D.Singh, Noel, Kuttimani, Nicholas, Chhangte, Sukore, Yadav

With just one point from ten matches, HAL find themselves sitting at the bottom of the table and deservedly so. With seven goals scored so far this season, the Bangalore side are facing a severe draught of goals but on the other hand their defence has leaked goals like there is no tomorrow. They desperately need a win and if it comes against the twelfth placed Mumbai it will certainly make the things at the bottom of the table interesting.

HAL managed to save themselves from getting relegated by the skin of their teeth last season, but by the looks of the things, this time around itai??i??s highly unlikely that they would be able to rescue their spot in the league this year. Their Serbian striker Sujdovic has been a disappointment. He along with their midfielder James Singh have not done justice to their talents. Unless Ramalingamai??i??s side comes up with a miracle, Mumbai will walk out of this match with all three points.

HAL Bangalore expected line-up: Pramod (GK), Kenneth, Chandandeep, Adeola, Bijoy, Muttath, James, Meetei, Prakash, Sujdovic, Amaba

TheHardTackleai??i??s Men To Watch Out For:

After stunning Dempo in the last match, the Pilots would be eagerly waiting to take on the thirteenth placed Pailan Arrows.Ai?? After making into the top half of the table last week, a win here will push them into the fifth place – something which not many would have predicted after their dismal performance in the season gone by. Ai??Santosh Kashyap was ecstatic after his side got the better of Dempo but they cannot afford to take Arrows lightly especially after the young boys held the mighty East Bengal to a goalless draw over the weekend. Manandeep Singh and Gadkari are expected to start for Air India, whereas their Japanese recruit – Takayuki Omi – will marshal their troops in the middle of the pitch. Pawan Kumar will stand between the sticks for them but considering the fact that Arrows have been able to score just four goals this season, he might end up spending most of the match time catching flies.

Air India expected line up: Pawan (GK),Tamba, Basfore,Omi, Alaudeen, Napoleon, Thomte, Manandeep,Gadkari, Ezeh

Something somewhere has gone terribly wrong for the Arrows this time around as they have just not been able to find the back of net of their opponentai??i??s goal. HAL Bangalore and Arrows are the only two teams left who are yet to register a win in this campaign and itai??i??s not a surprise that as a result these two are the bottom two clubs in the league.Ai?? Their coach ai??i?? Sukhwinder Singh – might believe that no team is out of their reach but he must realise that for that to happen his team has to start scoring some goals. Stats like four goals in ten matches donai??i??t paint a rosy picture. Their goal scoring woes have been very well documented and if the Kolkata based side have to save their face against the pilots on Thursday then they need someone to take the responsibility to score really fast.Ai?? Will Sabeeth finally step up to the challenge or will it be Malsawmfela? Our guess is as good as yours.

Pailan Arrows expected line up: Naveen (GK), Ghosh, Devrani, Maulingkar, Fanai, Onagnam, Jibon, Rai, Sehnaj, Sabeeth , Malsawmfela

After picking up a surprise win over Prayag United over the weekend, Chirag were able to lift themselves over Pailan into the twelfth position but their real test lies this week against East Bengal. David Sundayai??i??s brace helped Chirag to pick up only their second win of the season and this would have certainly pumped up the Nigerian, walking into this clash against the giants of Indian football. Accompanying him up ahead would be Anil Kumar while Ghanaian pair of Dzisah and Boakye would have the tougher of the task to contain the frontline of the red and gold. The home side will have to play a near perfect match if they want to collect even a single point from this fixture and keep the pressure on Mumbai FC who picked up a thumping victory over HAL Bangalore.

Chirag United Club Kerala expected line up: Sharat(GK), Dzisah, Boakye, Noushad, Sam, Ajayan, Mohanraj,Ai?? Vineeth, Vignesh, Anil, Sunday

East Bengal must be kicking themselves after having squandered a golden opportunity to go past Dempo last week when their match against Arrows ended without a goal being scored. That result has really disappointed both the fans as well as the team so expect Trevor Morganai??i??s men to come out with all guns blazing in the last match of the round against yet another struggling club side. Mehtab Hossain who picked up his second caution on Sunday will miss the trip down south and he will be dearly missed by his side. Skipper Sanju Pradhan alongwith Orji, Vashum and Mathew are expected to take the field in the evening. At the back, presence of Okpara, Naoba, Chettri and Saumik Dey will make the life of Chirag forwards even more difficult. Up front, Morgan could field in the Robin Singh alongside Tolgay.

East Bengalai??i??s expected line up: Sandhu (GK), Okpara, Chettri, Naoba, Dey, Sanju, Orji, Vashum, Mathew, Tolgay, Robin
