Pre Match: Welcome to TheHardTackle’s Live Commentary Updates for I-League Round-12 Matches. The round is set to kick off with the high profile lip smacking clash between table topper East Bengal and third placed Churchill Brothers at the soccer crazy city of kolkata. It promises to be an exciting affair at YBK. The stadium is almost packed to its capacity, and still people are coming in and settling down. Both the teams are out on the pitch and waiting for the referee to blow his whistle and signal play on.

1′: And here we go, the high profile match kicks-off at YKB amidst massive fan cheering for the home team, Kingfisher East Bengal.

3′: First chance of the match for the home team. Naoba plays the ball to Penn through the center of the pitch and the Nigerian, after going past his marker, tried a long ranger, went out.

5′: Churchill launches a counter attack. Steven Dias with a lovely ball towards Brazilian striker Amuri Nunes, who in-turn tried to find Vincent, brilliantly intercepted by Okpara.

6′: Denzil managed to restrict Tolgay from taking a shot, but corner for East Bengal. Short corner taken by Mehtab to Penn, Gourmangi did well to clear the ball.

7′: Robin Singh! East Bengal got the first real opportunity, but Robin’s header went out from a close range.

9′: Handball inside the box! Denzil unintentionally gets the ball to touch his hand, East Bengal appeals for a penalty, referee refuses to budge.

12′: Free kick for East Bengal. Mehtab steps in, hits it just wide of the post with Churchill goalie Lalit Thapa being wrong-footed. It’s all East bengal so far. Churchill is even struggling for keeping the ball possession. Mehtab and Penn are having a good outing in the Red-&-Gold midfield.

14′: No goals so far. East Bengal is enjoying lion’s share of possession and the Red-&-Gold looks threatening to take an early lead.

16′: Great forward ball by Mehtab, towards Tolgay, but the Australian’s first touch is a poor one, cleared by Gourmangi.

18′: Double saves by Sandip. Amazing reflexes from the veteran goalie. First he denies Vincent from just 10 yards out, but the ball rebounds back and falls for Boima, who takes a screamer towards the far post. But Sandip is equal to the task and pulls off another diving stop. Brilliant.

19′: Penn hits it straight at the hands of Lalit Thapa.  Sanju Pradhan with the final pass, but disappointing effort by the Nigerian medio.

24′: It’s still goalless at YBK. East Bengal strikers poor finishing in front of goal continues.

25′: Good counter attack by Churchill through Robert and Vincent. However the ever reliable Sandip makes another good stop.

28′: Gourmangi did well to block Robin Singh, danger cleared.

30′: We are in to the half hour mark. It remains goalless with East Bengal getting most of the chances so far. The Red-&-Gold enjoys 60% of the ball possession at the moment.

31′: Free kick in favor of Churchill. Indian Beckham, Steven Dias, hits it wide.

33′: East Bengal launches another quick counter attack. It’s three vs two as Penn, Tolgay and Robin combines well, danger for Churchill.

34′: East Bengal gets a free kick as Denzil brings down Tolgay. Mehtab again with a lovely delivery towards Khabra, who tries an acrobatic back volley. Wasted.

38′: No goals yet. Morgan will be livid by the way his strikers have lost a few glorious opportunities to take the lead. However he will be happy to see the great link up play between Mehtab-Penn and Tolgay.

40′: Robin Singh hits the woodwork from a Mehtab Hussain’s free kick. Bad luck continues for the Red-&-Golds.

41′: Attack by Churchill Brothers. Gurwinder clears.

43′: Good counter attack by East Bengal again, but the are unable to produce that final ball in the attacking third.

45′: Only a minute of injury time has been added.

HT: And it’s half time at YBK. And entertaining first half comes to an end with both the teams playing some entertaining football. East Bengal enjoyed a higher percentage of ball possession and created more opportunities compared to Churchill. Join us back for the second half updates in about 15 minutes time.

46′: Here we go, the second half gets underway.

47′: Great save by Sandip. Churchill gets a free-kick and Steven Dias fires it at the top left corner. Sandip dives and makes a fine stop.

49′: Penalty for East Bengal. Penn was fouled unfairly inside the Churchill box and the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty in favor of the home team.

50′: GOOOAAALLLLL!!! East Bengal takes the lead. Sanju Pradhan makes no mistake to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and score the first goal of the match.

53′: East Bengal takes a deserving lead at last. Morgan would be a relieved man now. But they need to get one more to put the game to bed. Churchill are a dangerous side and they will fancy there chances till the final whistle if the scoreline remains 1-0 by then.

56′: Okpara does well to snatch the ball from Vincent. Good solid defending by the Nigerian.

58′: Dias and Amuri combines well to play a nice one-two by Mehtab intercepts and the ball gets cleared.

60′: Churchill gets a corner. Okpara jumps up highest to clear the delivery from Steven Dias. We are in to the hour mark and East Bengal is leading this high profile match 1-0.

62′: Good chance for East Bengal to double their lead. But Gourmangi with a last ditch effort to deny Tolgay a shooting opportunity.

64′: Khabra! Poor effort, hits it wide from a nice pass by Penn. He should have done better with that lovely ball.

66′: Churchill on the counter, Bineesh tries a few tricks, but fails to get past Naoba on the left.

68′: GOOOAAALLL!!! Churchill equalizes! Steven Dias sends in a lovely pass from the right wing and Vincent heads it home unchallenged.  It’s 1-1 at YBK and the match is on.

70′: GOOOAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!! East Bengal restores their lead immediately. Tolgay Ozbey is the scorer. An exact replica of the Churchill goal. Naoba sends an inch perfect cross from the right flank and Tolgay heads the ball home.

72′: Substitution for East Bengal. Sanju OFF. Sushanth Mathew ON.

75′: 15 minutes left for Churchill here. Can they stage another late comeback? Nice attack by the Goan side. Again it’s Steven Dias, who is leading the attacking line for Churchill. The Indian international sends a good square pass to Amuri, but the Brazilian hits it over and wide.

79′: Substitution by Vincent. Boima OFF, Charan Rai ON.

81′: Morgan responds by taking off Tolgay. Baljit Sahni ON for East Bengal.

84′: East Bengal keen to keep the possession of the ball and they went in to a shell in last 5 minutes or so. Seems like Morgan is content with a 2-1 win.

87′: Mehtab tries one of his long rage screamers. Saved well by Thapa. East Bengal is still maintaining their 2-1 lead.

90′: Four minutes of injury time added by the referee. Churchill is all out in attack now.

91′: GOOOAAALLLLL!!! Churchill equalizes again. It’s 2-2. From a Steven Dias’ corner, it’s Vincent again for the Goan side.

FT: East Bengal 2-2 Churchill Brothers. A late drama saw Churchill snatch a point off the table toppers. East Bengal’s unbeaten run continues and they retain their top of the table standing. Churchill, on the other hand, remains in the 3rd spot, 7 points behind the Red-&-Golds. Kayne Vincent gets the man of the match award.

VIVA KERALA V INDIAN ARROWS

Kannur- 29th Jan 2011 – 4:00 PM IST

1′: Kick off.Both teams desperately need three points from this encounter.

10′: Goal-less after 10 minutes. Both teams are trying to adjust to turf conditions of Kannur.

20′: The home team has dominated possession till now, goal scoring chances has been few and far between.

30′: Viva created two good chances but Sabeeth failed to provide finishing touches. Indian Arrows have been pretty ordinary till now.

40′: None of the teams have managed to create anything substantial in last 10 minutes, Still 0-0.

HT: Viva Kerala 0-0 Indian Arrows :: It has been a pretty drab encounter in Kannur. Both teams have shown why they are hovering around relegation zone.

50′: It’s still goal-less in Kerala. Indian Arrows have started 2nd half on a better note. They have dominated possession in opening 5 minutes.

70′: 0-0. None of the teams are showing enough intent to score a goal.

86′: GOOOAAALLL !!! Indian Arrows take the lead !!!

FT: Viva Kerala 0-1 Indian Arrows :: Three invaluable points for the AIFF team. They didnt play well today but still got three points. Viva’s dissapointing form continues – it will be very difficult for them to avoid relegation.

AIR INDIA V MOHUN BAGAN

Kolhapur – 29th Jan 2011 – 3.30 PM IST

1′: The match gets underway at Kohlapur. Air India will be punmped up after their surprise win over Dempo in Round-11. Mohun Bagan are also on the revival and Mr. Bhowmick will not be happy with anything less than a win here. Surprise here as Subhash opts for Gouranga and Snehashish on the wings leaving an in-form Ishfaq on the bench. Chidi will miss this match as well.

5′: Mohun Bagan pressing hard for an early lead. Air India staying deep in their defensive half.

10′: No goals yet in the match yet. Manjit hits wide from a close range.

15′: Samsong Singh’s shot went straight to Shilton.

20′: The score-line remains goal-less. Asim missed a chance in the 18th minute. His header went wide. AA –

28′: Brilliant dribbling skills from Ashim Air India somehow clear away the ball.

34′: Its still goal-less. Air India defence is doggedly holding onto the clean sheet.

35′: Barreto is having a totally off-day today. Edeh Chidi, the most in-form striker in I-League right now has been benched as he was carrying a yellow card. Bagan is clearly missing him.

36′: Kingshuk !! Brilliant from the young stopper. He denied Erich with great composure.

38′: Brilliant run from Snehashis but his cross fails to find a Bagan striker in AI box.

40′: It’s still goal-less Bagan is lacking creativity today. They need more fire-power upfront.

43′: We are slowly moving towards the half-time. Subhash Bhowmik needs to sort out his teams attack, Bagan has been underwhelming in first half. Yusuf Ansari will he happy with his team’s showing.

45′: GOOOAAALLL !!! Air India take the lead !!!

HT: Air India 1-0 Mohun Bagan :: Manjit Singh scored his third goal of I-League 2010/11. Poor defending from Bagan who failed to deal with a throw-in. Air India go into lemon break the happier of two sides, Bhowmik will have a lot of head-aches before 2nd half starts.

46′: Second half kicks off with AI leading by a goal.

50′: Good movement from Bagan from wings but no end product.

55′: No improvement from Mohun Bagan’s performance in 2nd half. Air India defence is facing no problems in dealing with Bagan’s attacking moves.

55′: Kingshuk !! Another timely interception. He has been the only consistent player for the Mariners in this match.

56′: Bhowmik chooses to bring on Edeh Chidi. Gouranga is substituted Ashim moves to the wings.

60′: Air India still leading by a goal as the game reaches hour mark.

64′: GOOOAAALLL !!! Bagan get the equaliser. It is Jose Ramirez Barreto – once again being the saviour of Bagan !!! Dhanrajan with a brilliant cross into the AI box.

65′: Bagan is looking much more lively now. Chidi certainly has injected some much needed creativity.

70′: Bagan fans have a chant which means Barreto is the saviour in winter, summer or winter. The ever-green Brazilian once again stayed true to this chant. Scoring a goal despite getting injured. It’s 1-1.

75′: The Green and Maroon brigade has been completely dominating possession in last 15 minutes. AI defence is living on the edge.

76′: Air India is looking dangerous from fast counter attacks. Bagan defence need to maintain composure.

80′: Ten minutes left to go, the match is heading for a nervy finish.

83′: Poor cross from Ashim after a darting run. He should have done better there.

85′: Nice play from Chidi there. He dribbled past two AI defenders, sadly he fails to find any team-mate with the final ball.

87′: The away team is pushing hard to get the second goal. AI defenders are playing really well now.

90′: Match goes into injury time. Can Ishfaq Ahmed create some magic in last few moments ?

92′: Real drama inside AI box. Bagan players tried to take a goal but AI defenders somehow clear away. Very little time remaining.

94′: Final Whistle

FT: Air India 1-1 Mohun Bagan :: In the end Bagan paid the price for a poor show in first 45 minutes. They conceded a soft goal and didnt create anything in first half. All credit to Air India defence for another dogged display. Bagan drop more points while Air India continue steady recovery.

CHIRAG UNITED V ONGC FC

Kolkata – 30th Jan – 1:45 PM IST

Team News:

Chirag : Abhijit, Chika, Bapi, Arnab, Narugopal, Denson, Lalkamal, Gouranga, Jerry, Joshimar, Elija. ONGC :Rajat, Kamal, Odafe, Tapan, Sandip, Salil, Bimal, Jatin, Surojit, Bikash, Opara.

 

1′ Matchday-2 of Round-12 I-League kicks off with this tie between Chirag United and ONGC FC. Here goes the referee’s whistle and the match is gets underway.

5′: Elija Junior, Chirag’s most prolific scorer is back in the starting XI after recovering from his injury layoff, leads his team to the first attack of the match with a great forward ball. But Joshimar fails to control the ball Peter Odafe clears the danger.

10′: Another good opportunity went begging for the home team. Jerry tried a screamer from the edge of the box, but Rajat Ghosh Dastider makes a good save.

15′: Former Indian international Jatin Singh Bist created an excellent ball after dribbling past two Chirag defenders. ND Opara collects the pass and controls the ball beautifully and unleashes a left footer which went just over the far right corner. Chirag launches a counter with Denson providing a good pass to Joshimar, but Sandip Sanga in ONGC defense is alert and makes a good challenge to snatch the ball.

20′: No goals in the match so far. Both the teams are trying to thump their authority in the midfield. Jatin has been the best player for ONGC so far while Lalkamal Bhowmick looked lively at the herat of Chirag midfield.

25′: Another forward surge by Chirag, Denson Devdas and Lalkamal Bhowmick played a little one-two between them before Jerry tries a clever chip which goes over the cross-bar.

30′: Half-an-hour passed by and still the score-line remains goal-less.

35′: Lalkamal fires a free kick from 25 yards out straight at the ONGC wall. Kamal Thapa, ONGC defender gets booked for an intentional handball.

40′: Only five minutes to go before the lemon break. Chirag enjoyed a healthy percentage of ball possession, but could not break the solid ONGC defense.

42′: GOOOAAAALLLLLL !!! Chirag United takes the lead. It’s the famous “Jo-Jo” pair once again, Junior provided Joshimar with a defense splitting ball inside the ONGC box and the Brazilian makes no mistake in putting the ball over the goal-line beating Rajat Ghosh Dastider.

HT : It’s half time at YBK. Chirag leading 1-0. Joshimar da Silva Martins scored the solitary goal of the match.

50′: Chirag United is leading by 1-0. ONGC is looking a bit more aggressive in the second half.

54′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Elija Junior doubles Chirag’s lead.

57′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Babatunde pulls one back for ONGC. It was a great solo effort. Wonderful ball control and dribbling by the ONGC striker.

59′: GOOOAAALLL!!! Entertaining five minutes or so. Chirag restores their 2 goal lead. Denson Devadas gets on the score-sheet. Gouranga Biswas provided the assist.

65′: Chirag is leading 3-1. ONGC goes all out in attack in search of another scoring opportunity.

70′: Chirag is playing the waiting game now. Hitting ONGC on the counter. Score-line remains 3-1 in favor of the home team.

75′: Just over 15 minutes remaining. It will be nearly impossible for ONGC to stage a comeback here. Chirag United is dominating the ball possession. Lalkamal Bhowmick is playing gem of a role in Chirag’s midfield.

80′: Rajat saves a 25 yards strike fired by Jerry. Chirag is maintaining their 3-1 lead.

84′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Chirag scores another. Now it’s surely all over for ONGC. This goal is an icing on the cake for Lalkamal, who displayed excellent passing and control.

90′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! It’s not over yet, at-least till the final whistle. ONGC pulls back another one. Babatunde scores his second goal of the match. It’s 4-2 now. Five minutes of injury time has been added.

FT: Chirag United 4-2 ONGC FC :: Final whistle. What an entertaining match it has been. Sad that such matches are not getting live telecast. Chirag moves up to the 6th spot just behind Mohun Bagan, in terms of goal difference. ONGC remains at the rock bottom. It was their 6th loss of the season and relegation fear is looming large on them. Elija Junior has been adjudged as the official man of the match for his scintillating performance. Chirag looks an altogether different attacking outfit with Junior in their ranks. He fully deserves the man of the match.

HAL SC V DEMPO SC

Bamgalore – 30th Jan – 3:30 PM IST

1′ Namaskara from Bengaluru. The match gets underway at Sreekantirava Stadium, bright and sunny day. Perfect weather for an entertaining football match. After their shock defeat against Air India, Dempo will look to bounce back with a thumping win against the newly promoted HAL team. HAL has performed mover the expectations this season and registered winning results over Mohun Bagan, Pune FC and JCT. They will be happy to share the honors in their second home game.

10′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Dempo strikes. Ranty Martins is the scorer for the Goan team.

20′: HAL defense is absorbing all the forward runs by Dempo strikers. They are not shy to go up and tried a couple of long rangers from counter attacks. Score-line remains 1-0.

30′: The lack of understanding among the Dempo players is quite evident. With Indian national stars back in the starting line-up, it’s bound to happen. They need to regroup quickly, the gap with East Bengal and Salgaocar is increasing with every match.

35′: Although Dempo is enjoying a healthy ball possession, they are unable to increase the lead. Couple of half chances for the Goan team went begging.

40′: Dempo is maintaining their one goal lead. Ranty missed an open net.

HT: It’s half time in Bangalore. Defending Champions Dempo Sports Club is leading 1-0;  thanks to an early strike by their high profile Nigerian striker Ranty Martins.

48′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Dempo doubles their lead immediately after the break. The home team is trailing by 0-2. Beto scores the second goal for the Goan outfit.

55′: Dempo is enjoying lion’s share of ball possession. Beto has thumped his authority in the midfield battle. And the ball is refusing to go away from the HAL half. The Bangalore based team is defending with 10 men behind the ball.

65′: The score-line remains 0-2. Just about 25 minutes remaining. Can the home team stage a late come back here?

67′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! Dempo scores their 3rd. Ranty Martins gets on the scoring chart again.

70′: Dempo SC is leading by three goals with just about 20 minutes to go. HAL players’ body language reflects that they have already given up. It’s only the formality which keeps them running around aimlessly in the ground.

80′: It looks all over for HAL SC. Dempo produced a scintillating performance in the second half and scored a couple of goals to put the game to bed, well almost – 10 minutes to go.

90′: Regulation time comes to an end. 2 minutes of injury time remains to be played here.

FT: HAL 0-3 Dempo. Dempo gets back on the winning ways with a scintillating performance here at Bangalore. 19 points from 12 matches take the defending champions to the 5th spot. HAL remains at the 10th spot with 11 points. Ranty Martins scored a brace and wins the official man of the match award.

MUMBAI FC V SALGAOCAR

KOLHAPUR – 30th Jan – 4.00 PM IST

1′: Another high profile top of the table clash at kohlapur. Mumbai FC, currently placed at 4th position, takes on the 2nd placed Salgaocar outfit. Salgaocar would be looking forward to clinch all three points from this tie and close the gap with East Bengal to just 3 points. On the other hand a healthy win for Mumbai FC could see them leapfrog Churchill to the 3rd spot.

10′: Salgacoar created couple of early opportunities. Wasted. Francis Fernandes is looking lively on the left flank for the Goan team.

20′: Both the sides got few half chances, but failed to convert. Ebi Sukore blasted over from a close range.

25′: Not much attacking intent. The game is restricted to midfield at the moment. The score-line remains goal-less.

30′: We are at the half-an-hour mark. No goals yet. At the moment the game is failing the live up to the expectations.

40′: GOOOAAALLLL!!! It’s the away team which breaks the dead-lock. Salgaocar opens the scoring account at Kohlapur. No surprises here – it’s once again Ryuiji Sueoka. His 12th goal of the season.

HT: Referee blows his whistle to indicate half time. The players are going off the pitch. Karim Bencharifa, the Salgaocar coach, is looking animated at the dug out. Join us back for the second half updates. It promises to be an exciting 45 minutes.

46′: Second half gets underway here at Kohlapur.

55′: Salgaocar wastes a golden chance to double their lead. Sueoka unleashes a right footer at the top right corner, but MFC goalie Ishan makes a brilliant stop.

60′: Hour mark. No goals yet in the second half. Salgaocar leading by a solitary goal here.

70′: It still remains 1-0 in favor of Salgaocar. 20 minutes remaining.

80′: Karanjit Singh makes a very good stop to keep his side leading in the match. Mumbai FC is playing some attacking football now. Salgaocar relying on counter attacks.

90′: The regulation time ends. Only a minute of added time for MFC to salvage a point.

FT: Mumbai FC 0-1 Salgaocar :: A first half strike by Ryuiji Sueoka is enough for the Goan giants to register their 9th win of the season. Salgaocar consolidates their second position in the I-League table with 27 points from 12 matches – just 3 adrift of table topper East Bengal. MFC remains in the 4th spot with 20 points.
