MUMBAI FC

AIR INDIA

Match Status : Played !

Mumbai FC 2-1 Air India [Full Time]

10′: Aimless football going on here. Lot of missed passes from both the teams.

20′: It appears that the players are lacking match practice. The match is soleless and rusty. Not even a single decent attacking move yet.

30′: The aimless football continues at Kohlapur. No goals scored yet.

HT’: It’s more of a torture to the eyes than the live action from the beautiful game. Well and good for everyone, here’s the half time break at Kohlapur. Scoreline reads Mumbai FC 0-0 Air India.

60′: Still goalless at Kolhapur.

FT: Mumbai FC 2-1 Air India. Nicolas Rodrigues scored the winner for Mumbai FC in the 71st minute. Although none of the teams deserve to win this match, however, Mumbai FC were slightly better in ball possession. It’s a really difficult job to find out the Man of the Match performer in this match – all the players were pathetic. But yet, TheHardTackle’s Man of the Match award goes to Mumbai FC’s Henry Ezeh – for being “bad” among the “worse“s.

EAST BENGAL
v

ONGC FC

Kolkata, 4th Dec, 2010
Kick-off – 2:00 PM IST

Match Status : Played !

East Bengal 1-0 ONGC FC [Full Time]

5′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: The match is on at the Yubabharati Stadium, Saltlake. And it’s already an entertaining affair with attacks and counters. East Bengal got a free kick in the ONGC half, but Mehtab shot was cleared by ONGC defender Tapan. Then ONGC launched a counter attack with N.D.Opara and Babatunde exchanging a sequence of passes between them, but the final shot by Opara went out.

10′ : East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: East Bengal enjoying early dominance in terms of ball possession. ONGC goalkeeper Rajat made one good save off Penn.

20′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: East Bengal continues to attack with venom. But no goals yet. Tolgay missed a chance from Mehtab’s corner. On the other side of the pitch, Sandip Nandy made a brilliant save to deny Babatunde.

30′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: East Bengal missed two more decent chances. First in the 23rd minute Penn’s right footer from a Tolgay pass went out wide. Then Okpara’s header from Mehtab’s corner from the left went just over the goal bar. East Bengal wingers, Sanju Pradhan and Sushant Mathew are contributing to their attack to a large extent. Referee disallowed a Robin Singh’s goal for offside. It was a controversial decision. Even the lines-man did not raise the flag.

40′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: ONGC ‘keeper produced double saves to deny Bekhokhei and then Mehtab. East Bengal enjoying approximately 70% ball possession and the match is being played only in one half, the ONGC half, of the pitch. But they are unable to score that illusive opening goal.

HT: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: A goal-less first half here at YBK. ONGC FC is only relying on quick counter attacks, taking advantage of East Bengal’s all out attack. From such an attack, babatunde tested Sandip from a longe range, easy gathering for the East Bengal custodian.

50′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: Second half is underway here at YBK. What would be the strategy from Morgan to break the dead-lock. No half time change has been made. Mehtab’s long ball finds Penn at the edge of the ONGC box, but ONGC defender Joy was alert and cleared the ball. The ball went to N.D.Opara, who ran through the right wing for about 25 yards, cut inside and unleashed a powerful shot which was brilliantly saved by Sandip diving full-stretched to his right. End-to-end stuff here.

55′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: ONGC FC is playing admirably well. Not only they are restricting the strong East Bengal attack, but also matching their illustrious counterparts shot by shot. Sandip Nandy once again had to dive full length to save a goalbound shot by Lalmuan.

60′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: It’s still goal-less here at Yuvabharati. Naoba made a daunting run down the right wing but his cross was poor and easily cleared by ONGC defense. 30 mins to go, East Bengal needs to get a goal from somewhere, may be Morgan would like to take off Sushant Mathew and bring on the experienced Alvito D’Cunha.

65′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: First change for East Bengal. As expected, Alvito is IN – Bekhokhei OUT ! ONGC also made a change, Surajit Bose IN – Tapan Maity OUT.

70′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: Sanju !!! That was close, but he should have done better. Alvito presented Sanju a defense splitting ball which the winger slammed just over the cross-bar from 18 yards out. It’s still goal-less. ONGC FC is defending resolutely here.

75′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: Still no goals. East Bengal is applying relentless pressure on ONGC defense, but the I-League newbies seem to be confident and managed to deal with all the Red&Gold attacks so far.

80′: East Bengal 0-0 ONGC FC :: Second change for East Bengal. Ravinder Singh came in place of Soumik Dey, who seems to have a slight niggle. East Bengal missed another opportunity to take the lead. This time Tolgay is the culprit. The Australian blasted the ball over from a close range. Poor effort that was.

85′: East Bengal 1-0 ONGC FC :: GOOOAAALLLL !!! And East Bengal scores !!! Tolgay makes amends this time with a nice header from Sanju’s inch perfect header!!! east bengal one up with just 5 mins to go.

90′: East Bengal 1-0 ONGC FC :: Third and last change for East Bengal. Tolgay OUT – Budhiram IN.  East Bengal missed a golden chance to double their lead. Penn should have done better with the pass from Sanju. But the Nigerian’s shot went wide of the far post from a close range. 2 minutes of injury time added by the referee’s assistant.

FT: East Bengal 1-0 ONGC FC :: East Bengal collects full three points from their first match of the campaign. Tolgay scored the solitary goal of the match in the 85th minute. ONGC players showed great character and fighting spirit to hold off the title contenders up to the 85th minute. But at the end East Bengal is able to score that illusive opener to put the game to bed. Sanju Pradhan is TheHardTackle’s Man of the Match for his excellent display on the Red&Gold wings, he also provided the assist for Tolgay’s goal.

DEMPO SC

Goa, 4th Dec, 2010

Match Status : Played !

Churchill 1-1 Dempo [Full Time]

5′: Churchill Brothers kick-off the Goan Derby. It promises to be an entertaining match. No goals so far.

20′: No goals yet. Dempo enjoying healthy share of ball possession. Ranty wasted one chance in the 16th min.

30′: It’s still goalless at Goa. The game is mainly restricted to the midfield. Both the coaches preferring a safety first approach.

40′: Odafa missed a sitter. Zenith’s freekick got deflected off the Dempo wall and fell luckily for an unmarked Odafa. Dempo goalkeeper Kattimani had already committed to the free kick and was wrong-footed by the wicked deflection. But Odafa’s shot ballooned over. Already one substitution for Dempo – Clifton IN – Joaquim OUT.

HT: It’s a goal-less first half here at Goa. The game failed to live up to the expectation and there were very few decent attacking moves. Both the goalkeepers had a rather quiet afternoon. The best chance of the match was missed by Odafa, when he blasted the ball well over the cross bar in the 37th minute. Dempo made their second change meanwhile – Godwin Franco OUT – Joe Rodrigues IN. Churchill also made one substitution, Dharmaraj Ravanan, who sustained an injury is OUT and Warundeep Singh comes IN. Churchill’s Bineesh Balan received the  only booking of the match so far in the 45th minute.

55′: Second half started at a similar pace. Dempo are clearly missing their key midfielder Roberto Silva. Both the teams are not being able to create anything significant.

70′: Dempo scores in the 59th minute. Clifton Gonsalves is the scorer. With this goal,  14 goals have been scored so far in the 7 Round-1 matches.

80′: Ten minutes remaining for Churchill to find the equalizer. Another change made by Churchill’s coach – Vincent Subramaniam. Durga Boro OUT – Chandam Singh IN.

85′: Churchill is trying hard to get the equalizer. Score-line still reads – Churchill 0-1 Dempo. Dempo is looking to make another change. Should be a time wasting tactic.

FT: Churchill 1-1 Dempo :: Churchill scores the equalizer in the 86th minute. Odafa Okolie is the scorer for Churchill. Defending Champion Dempo SC and Churchill start their I-League campaign with a point each. ThehardTackle’s Man of the Match award goes to the Dempo goal-scorer Clifton Gonsalves.
